So, how was your summer? Mine was fun. Saw some fish. Went mad with hunger. Hallucinated a whole bunch.

Literary Buffistas 3: Don't Parse the Blurb, Dear.

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

Because books.

That was the thing for me, Steph. After I stood back, there were a bunch of things that were sort of over the top and silly about the book, but while I was reading it the tone and the old-fashioned otherworldliness of it really seduced me.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

So, I'm reading the 8th Wizards book by Diane Duane (who wrote a number of Star Trek novels I really like), and just came across the line, "It's math, Kit, but not as we know it."

I can't stop laughing.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I'm in the middle of reading that series. It's so obvious that it takes place in the same universe as her Trek stories. I'm sure there's a wizard on the Enterprise.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Ha, that's awesome.

Steph, I had the same reaction to the Aurelius reveal. That was nice.

while I was reading it the tone and the old-fashioned otherworldliness of it really seduced me.

Whereas they annoyed me. Heh. Guess I wasn't in the mood for that sort of thing.

Royal Blood? Or volume 3 of the manga? Yes, I have both, and they're both charming.

Royal Blood, and damn, you're fast! I just heard about it Friday and got it from the library today.

I had it pre-ordered, so it shipped to me on the release date in July. I'm a big enough fan that I periodically check to see what she's got listed as future releases, and then hit Amazon to place my pre-orders.

I do know that Julie Kenner, of the cutesy-named demon books (California Demon, Deja Demon, Demons Are Forever, Carpe Demon [and that's not the order they were written]) has a new book out tomorrow (Demon Ex Machina), which is winging its way to me as we speak.
