So that's my dream. That and some stuff about cigars and a tunnel.

I'm sorry, GC.

What is even happening?

Gloomcookie, I'm so sorry for your loss. Peace to your whole family, your dad in particular.

Your great uncle looks a lot like the photos of my dad did in his Navy days.

Thanks for the good wishes. And Sparky that was totally the bank! Mine was black instead of red. Good times.

I gave a couple of those banks as xmas presents to a friend's kids because I had such a good memory of it -- my husband thought I was crazy, but the kids loved 'em and their mother has now given it as a gift herself.

It is funny that it is such a hit with the kids. I know I loved it, too.

For me, I think it was watching the wealth accumulate and knowing that my sisters didn't have it (bank or money) and having the time to daydream about what I could do with ten! whole! dollars!

The kids we gave it to have opened bank accounts, and are being taught that they should spend a little, save a little and give a little to charity. It's adorable.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

I'm girding my loins for the next two weeks at work, where I know I'm going to be putting in 50 hour weeks and Saturdays, to boot.

Ugh. At least my work was no tougher than usual. Just don't have any nights off anymore due to Bus. Class, Gaelic Class, Charleston Class, Irish Dance Class, etc. Having it be work dragging you down instead of extra-curriculars? Extra-no-fun. Much good rest-ma to you.

We finally got a new temp, but it's a drop in the bucket compared to the fact we do most of our business in the summer, so April is when the big push to up the stocking levels occurs.

OOC, what is it you build/make/sell?

{{GC & Family}} He was a baby-faced cutie. Never had the bank, but it looks fun. I'm glad you have a nice memory to attach to him.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

The company makes theatrical lighting supplies, Epic. Between a huge portion of our customers being high schools and colleges that do theater renovations during the summer and the fact that many businesses use a July-June budget year, our peak business is done to take advantage of school closings and end of fiscal year budget windfalls. Also, many of the casinos and resorts tend to open late spring/early summer to lure in jaded tourists, so we have lots of system turn ons in Vegas and theme parks at this time of year, too. Busy, busy, busy.
