No, it's shiny! I like to meet new people. They've all got stories...

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sewing is fabulous fun, and I'm glad you're gonna give it a shot.

The other thought is, do you already have a sewing machine? If you don't, lots of sewing machine shops give introductory classes when you purchase one of their machines.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I do have a sewing machine. I got a used one, so no classes.

My local Joann's does offer beginning classes ($75 for 3, 3 hour sessions). I may look into those, too.

Oh, that's cool.

As far as books go, honestly, I'd try Sewing for Dummies. The dummies books, despite their name, are usually great reference books.

Also, YAY for a used sewing machine! I've got my mom's old OLD sewing machine from when she was a teenager, and she's pretty sure it was used when they got it. They can really last a long time and be wonderful, so used is good.

I have some friends who are costume designers, some they gave me so advice about what machine to get (I have a Huskystar 215, it's a Viking).

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

You know, it seems like this has been a rough week all around. I say, cabana boys and ice cream all around. My treat.

This Sunday, I'm going to a benefit performance of Hair at the award-winningPerseverance Theatre. Great music, fun show, good company, and raising money for my church and Theater in the Rough. It doesn't get much better.

Although I've become converted to the Short Hair Crowd, I just love Hair. The plot is meh, but the music is fantastic.

Oh, that looks nice. Mom's new machine is a Viking. They're great. Yay for you!

I have my mom's old Singer Featherlight, from probably about 1930. One of these day's I'm actually going to figure out how to use it, but not now. I'm so behind on knitting and crocheting projects!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Megan, I am so sorry. I hope this time is as peaceful as possible.

And now is the time in Bitches when we meara:

Perkins, I hope you are feeling better today am sorry to hear that you are hurting today but the ankle working is a very good thing as I know you were concerned about it last night.

Welcome back, Kristin.

Yay for Cass and the neicelet! I hope you two have a lovely visit and that any of the annoying relatives find themselves inexplicably unable to approach you before veering off to do something else.
Oh! That would be perfect! It will leave me with very few people to talk with but I kinda like it that way. Smart Deena...

She actually hasn't met him yet. Greg met his mom. We'll run into him soon, I'm sure. THEN it will be all boyfriend-minion.
Ah. Arranged minionship. Very old school.

Interlude (Souxie and Morrissey)
I am Morrissey's bitch but I can see exactly why this doesn't work in this mix. I have it on my Melancholy mix but booted it right out of the lineup for Ennui.

I am getting a haircut this afternoon and have decided (for no reason, except I thought it would be fun) not to tell Tom, so I can TA-DA! when he comes home from work.
I'm not telling my family (if I can manage not to for the next week) so I can surprise them at Easter. It's not "Preggers!" like my sister pulled but I think my hair will be significantly less controversial as well. Still debating dying it really dark (and no red!) brown. The color it really is? I adore it. But I am thinking that a little darker and me a little paler and it will be more striking for my first trip back from the Pacific Northwest.

I look hella cute!
And yay! you are happy with it. Sounds fantastic.

What's it look like? (aside from pretty - we'll just presume that)
Ah, that is sweet. I linked in lj. Lemme go find it. (And, on a housekeeping note, I friendslock everything there but if you are reading it here, let me know and I'll friend you. Bitches are obviously friends.) [link]

Japanese symbol for "Mother". On my lower back. In black. It kicks ass.
Fabulous! That sounds perfect for you.

Calling All Sewers!!!
There's a shop here with a sign reading "Coffee, Tea & Knitting"

Someone tell me that the pain I'm currently experiencing in my legs is from walking two miles today
It's the walking.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

THis isn't a picture of my tatoo, but if you go to the bottom of the page here: [link] in the box that says "mother" I have the kanji that is on the left.
