My best friend Karen usually hears me call her "K" or "Ka" (with the "Ka" sounding like the first syllable of her name). "K" is one of her preferred names for herself. The Ka (which I which I could better represent phonetcially) is just laziness, and most of us (her friends and family) are lazy.
