Gronklies.
I just taught a class, where every time I turned around to write something on the board, I'd hear a few students giggling. As soon as I turned back, they stopped. Extremely disconcerting.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Oh, Hil, that's awful. Bad students. No cookies.
It is decided! Wallybee and I are going to stay a night in the Dandenongs over Easter. We'll be staying at a B&B that promises 5 acres of landscaped gardens, a national park as a backdrop, and the possibility of kookaburras visiting your balcony.
I'm looking forward to it very much. I rather think that WB is too.
Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap.
I asked Emily yesterday to leave me her checking account number so I could deposit the cash rent from Not!Emily into her account this morning. I just realized that she didn't. And the landlord picked up the check yesterday and will probably deposit it today, and I know she doesn't have enough money in her account to cover it.
I have no way of getting ahold of her at the school. Occasionally she is able to check e-mail, but I don't know if she'll get my e-mail in time. I'm sure the bank isn't going to give me her account number.
Ugh. I don't know what to do.
ETA: I've looked around a bit for her checkbook and extra checks, but I don't want to be too nosy. I didn't see them in the expected places.
I have no way of getting ahold of her at the school. Why couldn't you leave a message with the school office--that she needs to call you as soon as she gets a minute?

I doubt they'd know who she is. And I don't remember her cooperating teacher's name.

I believe this is a situation in which a serious rifling-through of another person's drawers (heh, I said "drawers") is acceptible, if you have the energy to do so.
ETA: Perhaps what I mean is better expressed as "systematic search" than "rifling-through".
ugh, vw. There's not a lot *to* do, in this situtation except hope that the timing works out in your favor. It may not hit until tomorrow. Maybe she has the overdraft protection?
I don't think she has overdraft protection, because she was seriously concerned about this over the weekend, which is why I'm kind of freaking out about it.
I've left her an e-mail and a voice mail. I'm going to stop by my bank and get cash for my rent, instead of putting in the check. Then hopefully they'll make the deposit available right away (isn't that how it usually works with cash?). As long as she checks her voice mail before she leaves school, which she usually does, I should be able to get it to the bank before they close.
Usually she has former deposit slips lying around, but since I made her clean up over the weekend, she doesn't. Go me (or Not!Emily, if we still want to blame him for everything).
ISchool-relatedN, I heard from my pre-calc prof this morning. He wants me to consider taking an Incomplete before dropping the class. This is great news. It also gives me some more time to figure out if I'm gonna be able to finish it, rather than having to decide by April 6.
Also, just heard from my MRC counselor. She said to AMA the Financial Aid People's asses. Well, not exactly in those words. But, I'm supposed to keep going up the chain saying, "This is due to a disability, and I expect you to make reasonable accommodations." She said it may be difficult if the loans are federal (which they are), but that I should keep pressing the issue.
So, anyway, I'm feeling a bit encouraged.
