'Out Of Gas'

Spike's Bitches 29: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I should have included in my post this morning that I was heading out the door right after I hit post. Der. This is a mememe post, please to bear with me...

Get on and avast with you and your bad self!

Jen, what a great attitude to have. Go you and your piratey self.

Arrrrrrrr, Jen. Tis nice t'be seeing yer fonts, matey.

Jen, I love the image of you as a saucy pirate! Arrrr!
Yarrrrgh, Pirate Jen sounds like she's cutting a swath.

See, I just knew this was the place for an "I'm feeling piratey post." Thankee, mateys, for encouraging the arrrrr.

First, I'm very glad it wasn't traumatic for you. That's what's important. Second, we may need at least one picture of this. Seriously. (Of course, not if you're not up for it.) Arrrghhh!

Well, I have a phone that can take pictures. I just need to figure out how to send it to me and then I can post a photo on lj and link it. I will do this happily once I figure out how to. And maybe wait until I get some skull and crossbone earrings, because I will have skull and crossbone earrings as soon as my little fingers can find some online to order.

Arrrrgh!!! How are you feeling? How long will your course of treatments be?

Argh! is right! And you do have a great attitude. How have you been feeling?

Thanks! I'm feeling really well, which is a huge, huge blessing and, heh, helps with the attitude. I had my second course of chemo today. My oncologist (on whom I have a chaste crush, 'casue he's a cutie, yet also married with a million bajillion kids, but just has such a sweet disposition, yet got all cowboyed up over talking to the radiologist to get me started sooner than rather than later... ahem, but I digress) laughed at my response to "How are you feeling?" which was, "Good. And a little piratey."

The after effects of the treatments so far have been mild. Loss of appetite for about four days or so, but I can still eat. The anti-nausea drugs work like gangbusters, so I haven't had any nausea. They loaded me up with percocet to counter the weird leg pains I got last time, and that's pretty much it. Well, and I take Senakot to keep things, er, moving along. So it's all good. Bloodwork A-OK. Tumor marker down to negative level.

Next week I go in for the radiologist's work-up so they can plan my specific treatment. Then depending on who wins, I'll start radiation in a week or maybe two weeks. Five weeks of 5-day a week external radiation, then six sessions of internal over a week or two. Then, assuming I'm still tolerating it well, four more courses of chemo. At that point, we would all like to think that all the nasty cells will have been well and thoroughly vanquished. And then there will be the requisite follow-up check-ups, naturally.

She wanted a pink wig, or a red one, but her mom talked her down to her natural hair color (dark brown), but did let her get curls.

Aw, curls! Adorable.

Thanks, ya'll for the encouragement and concern. And, of course, the Arrrrrrs. Means the world.

ETA:

Go Pirate!Jen!

Thankee, matey!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Sadly, turns out he's the older brother of a friend of mine from college. Damn.
God, my sympathies are with the Dana family right now. It's just a tragedy and I hope they can eventually make it through this terrible time.

Jen, you are an excellent pirate! I'm glad the treatment is going well and not too side-effecty.

Trust my rage

Jen, thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear things are going well (well, not well, but you know what I mean).

Hee, per my ETA: on previous post - you and I are as one.

Thanks, Cass, ETA: and Stephanie!

Yeah, my old roommate was telling me she'd just had dinner a few months ago with Chris (the brother we knew) and Paul. So sad. Chris is such an amazing guy, I'm sure Paul was too.

Our wings are not tired.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Nasty cells don't stand a chance against your kind, matey.

They be walkin' the plank as we speak!
