Again, hmmph.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Aimee I believe so, primarily because against all logic, your medical records are the property of the creating body, not YOU.
Ok, are they allowed to withhold them from her new doctor?
Aimée, I don't know for a fact, but my feeling is that that's a big fucking no fucking way. What if she had some kind of chronic condition that her new doctor needed to know the history of? I can't imagine it's legal for a doctor's office to damage a child's quality of care because of an un- or under-paid bill.
eta: Well, damn. I defer to Beej, but I still say it's bullshit.
Also, FYI everyone, you have the right, whenever you see your doctor or any specialist, to request that the notes, lab or OR reports, and clinic letters be cc'd to you. That way you have a copy of all records, totally under your control.
The thing is, if they had called me a FREAKING MONTH AGO when I requested the damn records, it wouldn't be such a surprise today. Yes, I KNOW I owe them money - it's why I switched health plans - I couldn't afford them anymore - but shit. You're going to possibly hurt my CHILD over $220?
I don't know about your thing Aims, though that, whaddayacallit? Sucks.
Also, Epic, you know I was just funnin' you, right?

I was just going to ask that. So thanks for the advice, JZ.

I've been wondering about this myself. I find it infuriating that I can get my regular clinic to send records to my Workman's Comp. clinic (well, after two or three requests and the copies being lost at least once), but if I want records for myself, of MY OWN BODY, I have to cough up cash. Been wondering who to ask about whether I had a legal leg to stand on for making a fuss. So, no then?

Hee! There you are. I thought you'd get a giggle out of that, but then you went all quiet and stuff.

Yep. Just a slow typist, Toots.
Mini-Rant Warning.
Okay, getting so irritated right now. Still waiting to get the last part of the group project that's DUE TONIGHT and was supposed to be TURNED IN TO ME BY SUNDAY NIGHT for proofing. I'm regretting the aggravation of being the leader of this group, but there's no way that I wanted to let one of the INFANTS who've attached themselves to me be in charge of the project that's going to be part of my grade, y'know? Once upon a time it was gratifying to be popular with classmates. Right now, annoying as all hell. Especially since I know the reason they like me is I do more work than they do. Because I know that if I want it done right...blah, blah, blah. Arrgh!
Thank you for your attention. You may now return to your non-rant posting.
