GRR ARGH. I just doublechecked my reservation online, and the WHOLE REASON I'm flying United is to be in the "economy plus" section...and I'm NOT. Fucking jackasses at the travel agency. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
K does have a fantastic accent. I keep telling him he needs to go and be Fabulous in San Francisco/other Fabulous-friendly part of the States for a bit - he's not sure what he wants to do next year, and is not mad keen on the teaching malarky.
Hee. Fay, if he wants to move to DC, I promise to introduce him to many many men who will swoon at his cutiepie self!!
meara--I have some DC questions for you, becuause I need some background info for my new play. What is an iffy neighborhood where three grad school students might share a really cheap apartment? You know--a neighborhood that might have some gangs and a check cashing place, but also a coffeeshop. A neighborhood which would terrify even a pretty liberal parent. You could even give me a street name if you know one. Also what park might a street preacher go to and get a youngish audience? One last question--how do you stay as cool as you are?

Not meara, but I'd answer Columbia Heights. (I.e., the neighborhood where a bunch of my friends live, but whenever I mention moving there, my parents offer to pay the difference between rent there and rent in a better neighborhood.) As for a park, I can't really think of that many around here, but I've seen some street preachers at Dupont Circle, which always has a youngish crowd. (The actualy circle part of it -- there's a fountain in the middle, and some benches and grass around it, and people hang out there, but it's not really big enough to qualify as a "park.")
Fuckety, looks like our game got rained out. Again. Second week in a row. Worse, it's just games scheduled on the North Field. South Field is open. Emmett's getting frustrated. He's chomping at the bit. He's had it with practice, he wants to PLAY. And it's gorgeous and sunny out, but the North Field is too wet. Feh.
OH, GOD, you have me a scare with the DST thing,y'all! I haven't had enough coffee yet!
But I have a nice warm cup in hand, and then...well, I need to clean. My apartment is a mess. Really a mess. I want to crawl back into bed with a book....but it's a mess, too.
And a clean apartment this afternoon means a long, hot shower and the evening in a CLEAN BED and a feeling of productivity, right?
K.
After coffee, kitchen cleaning. AND loud rock.
AND loud rock.
I recommend "Still in Hollywood" by Concrete Blonde.
David - we were rained out yesterday also. There are 4 fields where CJ plays, two owned by Little League and two owned by Parks and Rec. Yesterday all 4 fields were closed, but often games get played on the Little League fields while Parks and Rec will close theirs at the first rain drop.
A while back I had pointed Aimee to the Rose is Rose comic strip. I had tried to find one of the strips that showed the mom turning into her motorcycle mam alter ego. Today's strip fits the bill.
I notice they have the cover [link] of Rose is Rose: Running on Alter Ego up at Amazon.
Harvey got at the couple of scraps of roast beef I hadn't gotten a chance to put away/cook about 1/2 hour ago. It wasn't much, just a couple of chunks of raw beef, less than an inch in size.
My annoyance of him doing so has abated with his horking them up on the dining room floor.
Poor Harvey. Not ready for real meat. Good thing we don't have mice.
Maybe if he would have chewed it...
