Mercy is the mark of a great man. Guess I'm just a good man. Well, I'm all right.

Spike's Bitches 29: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Really? What do I get?

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

The adulation of your peers! And maybe a set of steak knives. Though probably not.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Gronk. Must pack. And do dishes. Don't wanna.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

but mostly it was just sharing the things we love about each other.

Man, I love this conversation!

Also, aww. To all you young lovaahhhhs out there. We love love!

move out and draw fire

Skipping and skimming to say it was Love Day here. Mal inadvertently learned a lot about the birds and the bees as we watched a couple lovebirds getting it on. And the one cockatoo in the park was putting the moves on a green parrot in a big way.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I really have no idea what reason they'll cite for their decision

They don't have to state anything in Cali, do they? I wonder--do employers often not say a thing at all?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

It's great to see all the relationship happies around here.

Hec, I'm sorry your employers are being asshats. I'd think HR would be better served by a wide range of humans, rather than the Stepford set.

So, migraine folks, I've heard there's a whole sparkly vision thing that can come before the initial onset. I'm asking because I'm sort of experiencing a shimmery thing in my vision (not limited to either eye--I can shut one or the other (or both, for that matter) and still see it). And it made me wonder if I might be heading for a migraine. I've never had one before. But then, I've never had this weird vision thing before. Otherwise I feel fine. Well, fine-ish. First day of the period and all that.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hec, you're being way too generous giving them your advice about future pitfalls. If they didn't plan ahead, if they laid you off, it's THEIR lookout.

Well, they'll have plenty of stress and problems in the next couple months, but if I don't point them at some data then people I like and work with will be negatively affected. They won't accrue vacation at the proper rate. That kind of thing. Honestly, I'm not going to do anything more than sit down with NiceBoss and give her an hour's worth of notes which relieves me of responsibility. I'm not volunteering to fix the paralegal CLE database or anything like that.

Well, I've solved the packing problem. I just couldn't bear to look at or through my clothes. So I have clothes for work on Monday, I'm wearing my jeans, and I'ma stop at old navy or somewhere on the way out of town and buy socks, underwear, and a couple of t-shirts. Done.
