Slut?
eta:
Yay!
I've had a very nice week. I really like my new role as Resource Chick for Literacy for Grades 1 - 3. My classroom is sparkly and colourful and has Hec's Jazzy Fay music on loop in the background much of the time. I am paid to teach small groups of kids reading and writing and word skills. It ROCKS.
And, what's more, my day always ends with a couple of wee Grade One girls who are both very cute, but one of them is SO adorable I want to kidnap her. I could eat her with a spoon! She's all wicked dimples and cheeky adorability, and reading 'Peg the Hen' at Starfall dot com (which is what we were doing today) was just a blast.
(Ooh! Parents of wee USian Buffistasprog who are learning to read - check out Starfall dot com. LOVELY little website with interactive books and reading activities and songs and animations and stuff. Great fun. Although their bowdlerized versions of Greek Myths I could do without, but all the early years stuff is fab.)
Also, in other rather cool news, people have started commissioning me to do portraits. Which is fantastic. Although I was mortified by the sordid financial side of it - but it all sorted itself out, because I did a couple of portraits for a friend without asking for money, but then she paid me, so now when other people approached me to commission pictures I could just ask for what she gave me, and it's all good. One of the KG teachers asked me to do portraits of her 2 children (baby and 4 year old) for her husband's birthday. He's the vice principal (and one of my referrees). It was his birthday yesterday, and he was over the moon. Came and told me it was the best present he'd ever had in his life.
rubs hands gleefully.
Ooooh, yes - I'm TOTALLY going to be able to get references from him in the future!
...I realise that this is a bit of a 'Hey, I'm fabulous' kind of post, but it's more coming from a 'this is something I feel sort of surprised about and sort of proud of' kind of place. Er. Like a cat bringing you a mouse. Or something.
well, it's a palindromic slut anyway.
t awaits Fay-comments regarding my St. Andrews babbling
Happy birthday Raq!!
Good luck, KB.
I have accomplished nothing at all today, and my to-do list grows ever longer.
My to do list is making me want to stab my eyes out. 90 minutes of dictation by Doctor Wordy McWordystein, which will translate at my current rate of 3-4 minutes' typing for every 1 minute of dictation to nearly 6 hours' work (the other attendings with a comparable workload will turn in 15-20 minutes of dictation, 25 tops). And it's not like her notes are more info-filled and useful than anyone else's; they're more cloggy and convoluted, with a physically painful signal to noise ratio.
She's a nice person, but, fuck, how I'm dreading this. Stabby stabby stabby, whine whine whine.
ION -- vibing interview-ma to Katie Bee right this minute.
Babe, the St Andrews Babbling just made me squee like an idiot. I remember the Whey Pat! And the Central! I didn't know that Tom's mum lived there, though - I'm sure I'd have remembered that! Lovely lovely place.
The sad thing about my to-do list is that the first thing on it is "make a to-do list".
Though what I'm actually doing is reading mystery short stories. I should put that on the list so I can cross it off when I'm done.
-t, I put your Sparkly Hug Bitch Blanket around my shoulders for comfort during my phone interview. Thank you! It made me feel much much better. As did all the support from the resta youze guys. Did you know y'all mean the world to me? Well, you do. You're the best.
So it went all right. Just a short informational interview with an HR rep who is going to pass on her notes to the Oakland office. She was very nice, which means: not too much, I suppose. She asked me what I've been doing since 2004, and laughed kindly when I explained it was a lot of parent/neighbor support chores but I wasn't really interested in an elder-care position, I want something interesting and challenging. I asked questions that showed I'd read the website. So we'll see! At least I have proved to myself I can get a callback every so often.
(Sends the Brevity and Clarity Fairy to hover above Dr Wordy McWordystein and drop tighten-the-verbiage dust upon her)
Oh, I'm so glad it could be of service! I hope the interview leads to something for you.
I am still wearing it right now AIFG.
Next on the to-do list: all that yardwork I put off on Monday. It's good for me. Much more fun than joining a gym.
D'oh! Happy Birthdays, Raq & Mal! May there be much cake, and rejoicing too.
Happy Birthday, Raq!!!
KB, much job~ma. I hope the interview leads to a great job offer.
