Spike's Bitches 29: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

It's fascinating how the knowledge that your job is going away will drain all of your interest in doing any work.

So what grizzly personal topics shall we entertain you with today, Hec.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Happy Day of Raq! I hope it is as fun and interesting and warm as you are!

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Oh, yay, happy birthday Raq.

So what grizzly personal topics shall we entertain you with today, Hec.

I whacked a ball about 150 yards today. And also made the ball into the hole at the green in one stroke.

Sadly not grizzly. Really very boring. I wish I had any enjoyment at all for sports.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Happy Birthday, Raq!!!

Interview~ma, Katie. Knock 'em dead. Or, at least, wow them until they swoon a little. Dead is bad, they can't hire you.

Nora, so very jealous of your ale tale! I seriously need to make a trip over one of these years.

Librarian Warlord

Job ~ma all around. My DH still hasn't quite settled on what he'll be doing. He'd like to continue to work on one project as a consultant, and w/r/t another project the boss-man would like him to stay because he's feeling like my DH is leaving him in the lurch. Regardless, I suspect a 50% cut in income, if not more. ::kisses cheap, good health/dental/vision benefits that I get from the U for both of us::

What I've done this morning:

  • I finished typing up the meeting minutes from last week.
  • I arranged for catering for next week's meeting.
  • I bought F2F swag, which was the most fun.
  • I stopped myself from buying more yoga pants, even though I really, really want them and stared at the sale pages a long time.

I'm undecided about what to do next. My "To Do" list is a very dull read right now.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Slut?

eta: Yay!

I've had a very nice week. I really like my new role as Resource Chick for Literacy for Grades 1 - 3. My classroom is sparkly and colourful and has Hec's Jazzy Fay music on loop in the background much of the time. I am paid to teach small groups of kids reading and writing and word skills. It ROCKS.

And, what's more, my day always ends with a couple of wee Grade One girls who are both very cute, but one of them is SO adorable I want to kidnap her. I could eat her with a spoon! She's all wicked dimples and cheeky adorability, and reading 'Peg the Hen' at Starfall dot com (which is what we were doing today) was just a blast.

(Ooh! Parents of wee USian Buffistasprog who are learning to read - check out Starfall dot com. LOVELY little website with interactive books and reading activities and songs and animations and stuff. Great fun. Although their bowdlerized versions of Greek Myths I could do without, but all the early years stuff is fab.)

Also, in other rather cool news, people have started commissioning me to do portraits. Which is fantastic. Although I was mortified by the sordid financial side of it - but it all sorted itself out, because I did a couple of portraits for a friend without asking for money, but then she paid me, so now when other people approached me to commission pictures I could just ask for what she gave me, and it's all good. One of the KG teachers asked me to do portraits of her 2 children (baby and 4 year old) for her husband's birthday. He's the vice principal (and one of my referrees). It was his birthday yesterday, and he was over the moon. Came and told me it was the best present he'd ever had in his life.

rubs hands gleefully.

Ooooh, yes - I'm TOTALLY going to be able to get references from him in the future!

...I realise that this is a bit of a 'Hey, I'm fabulous' kind of post, but it's more coming from a 'this is something I feel sort of surprised about and sort of proud of' kind of place. Er. Like a cat bringing you a mouse. Or something.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Happy birthday Raq!!

Good luck, KB.

I have accomplished nothing at all today, and my to-do list grows ever longer.
