No, no, no, sir. No more chick pit for you. Come on.

Spike's Bitches 29: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I may actually be not-feral in the ways of dating soon!

Ooooh -- the scary "D" word! Right on!

Oh, that is terribly mean, Betsy!

Love hearing the good things.

My doctor finally called back--as I was in the stacks of the QUIET floor of the library at school. Oh, well. I tried to whisper. We're going to increase my seizure med a bit, but mostly he wants to get me off of it and on to something new. We'll see how that goes over with my psychopharm. Fortunately, they are good friends. They'll work it out.

Therapy went well too. Therapist is really pleased with how well I'm handling everything that's coming my way. That was nice to hear. It's kinda been a rough week. I needed some more encouragement and validation.

I can't even.

He has non-allergic rhinitis, which is far harder to treat than the allergic kind. He's not allergic to anything; his nose is just mean.

I have this. There basically isn't any treatment (well, I've already had the laser surgery). I do a bunch of stuff (saline, gel) to cut down on sinus infections, which are caused by rhinitis causing congestion. I live on sudafed, but I imagine your hubby's other medications would contraindicate pseudephedrine, Betsy?

If I only had a brain...

He takes Sudafed, but it only mitigates, it doesn't cure. Sigh. (He's not on any major meds, actually.)

Please, oh, please tell me I'm not getting the stomach flu.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I vote stress!

That's what Emily said.

Yeah, I'm the same way. I take what seems like a lot of sudafed or more accurately, I've taken it pretty much every day for years.

Saline and gel 2-3 times a day, sudafed, and ibu when necessary. If anyone knows of a better routine, I'm all nose.

Edit: no flu for you, vw! I vote with the Emily bloc.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Happy Pi Day!

To celebrate, my office is having caramel apple pie. It seems appropriate to me.

So....has anyone had anything *good* happen to them lately?

  • Although it is hard to lose my church building, it could have been worse. A fireman said that if they had been ten minutes later, the whole block would have been lost. And if the fire had been six hours later, or worse, twelve, then we probably would have lost most of downtown due to high winds.

  • My hopes are already coming true and the local community and larger faith community are both really pulling together here. Since the fire, our church has been offered free office and small meeting space in a building less than a block away, and the Roman Catholic cathedral, a block away, has offered to share their facilities for main services, etc., for at least a year. I was especially concerned about the AA groups that meet in our church, and the cathedral has offered space for all of those meetings as well. We were supposed to start up Wednesday suppers for the community tomorrow, and those are also on schedule. Others around the state and country have helped, with donations and support. The outpouring is just amazing to me.

  • The leadership and community at my church has hit the ground running as well. I won't go into all the details, but I'm just blown away. We were scheduled to provide dinner at the local soup kitchen last night, and we did. Someone is working on getting something set up online for donations. For those who have asked, I'll post in Press when that is available.

  • And...we're having a "wake" on Sunday afternoon, inviting everyone from the community who performed or attended performances or meetings or appreciated the architecture, or whatever.

  • In addition to all the help and support from people in Alaska, I really appreciate the support of all of you. Thank you, everyone, for your support, prayers, ~ma, for everything. It means so much.

  • And, course:

JZ makes me want to cry with joy and hug her on an ongoing basis.

Wrod.

vw, I’m so glad to hear about this and good!nurse. Too much has been pile upon you, but you are handling it in an amazing fashion, and I’m so glad that you have found good friends and professionals in the mix.

My left ear is plugged up from the cold. Sometimes I forget and hold the phone to that ear -- hilarity ensues.

Oh, to be a fly on Sparky’s wall.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I'm blushing but baffled -- just babbling about my dress is all.

I'm glad your community is pulling together and being so supportive. There's so much news all the time about the humans and their stupidity and cupidity and spite, it's incredibly heartening to hear about a whole community being so good and generous and loving.
