Just paged my doctor. She was supposed to call with blood results today, and hasn't yet. And I'm just in so much pain. I don't think she'll be able to do anything, but I just want to touch base with her.

I empathize. More than half of my siblings are adopted. There were two siblings we adopted when they were in the early double-digits. They were part of our family for over a year when the biological father changed his mind and sued for custody. While it wasn't a betrayal of trust, it certainly upset our family. I agree with you that it was better to find this out before the legal process was finalized. You're an admirable woman for working so hard not only for your own kids but for another person's child.
