Maybe for their time doing layout? It can be significant.
That may well be. But traditionally fanzines only recovered out of pocket actual costs, not time. Because if you cover someone's time, then the fan producing it is making money, and that's treading on the producer's right to earn from the source product.
I'm not saying it's right -- just that coding mightn't be where the time went, but layout instead.
Don't know, didn't read their justification.
Well, hey, if people'll pay. *shrug* I understand that set of authors are very popular in a particular Daniel-centric portion of the fandom.
Yeah, it's just... it's the sort of thing that makes studio lawyers twitchy. Ya know?
Oh, I agree! I wouldn't do it, even if the idea didn't make me giggle. (No, really, pay me money!)
t showers Katie with pennies in the hopes of inspiring some more nonzombie fic
Hey, didja see Tafkar's OT3 post? Very cute, I thought.
Does anyone have any recs for good and
non-slashy
stories set in the Horatio Hornblower, Master and Commander, Sharpe's, etc. universes.
When out in Missouri this week, I explained to my dad the whole concept of fan-fiction, and why I read and write the stuff. When he realized that there were more Hornblower, Aubrey & Maturin, etc. stories out there for him to read--some of which might even surpass the source material--his eyes went as wide as a child's on Christmas morning. Ergo, I promised to hunt some down for him.
Errr. Well, you could try Crack_Van, but I bet it's mostly slash. The only Aubrey & Maturin stuff I know of is by Shalott, and that's most definitely slash.
Try googling "gen recs" maybe?
Well, note that if I ever finish it Vonnie will be getting non!zombie fic for the price of a couple packages of Tim Tams.

I did. It was past my ability to suspend disbelief--it was Pete who put it over the edge--but yeah, cute. I loved Daniel and the sushi.

Well, there's always the one where Jack turns into a woman. Hey Anne, how does your father feel about genderbending? (I am so very kidding.)
