And don't you ever stand for that sort of thing. Someone ever tries to kill you, you try to kill 'em right back! ... You got the right same as anyone to live and try to kill people.

connie, you're getting Star Trek mixed up with Splash! again. Do I need to do the slide show again? This is John Candy. This is DeForest Kelley. I know that one's confusing -- shall I do it again?

Well, DeForest Kelley was always fun.

Sigh. I knew I was getting old when the first Star Trek actor died. And Jimmy Doohan isn't doing too well, either.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

See that page, and the various other pages on the site, took me from "What?" to a shaky "Crumbs!"

...and now I'm ear-wormed, damn it.

Heeeeeeeeey Spockalina

When I dance they call me Spockalina

and the boys they say that I´m buena they all want me, they can´t have me

So they all come and fight beside me

move with me, fight with me

and if you're good you can play chess with me

Live very long and prosper, Spockalina!

Run any risk to look after your leader

Dump your fiance for Jim, Spockalina

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeey Spockalina!

Now don´t you worry ´bout my boy friend

the boy who´s name is T'Pringino

I don´t want him, ´can't stand him

he was no good so I - hahaaaa

Now, come on, what was I supposed to do ?

He was back on Vulcan and my two friends were soooo fine

Come and find me, my name is Spockalina

always at the party,

´cause the captain thinks I´m buena

come join me, dance with me

But just remember that Jim Kirk leaves with me

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

God, Fay, you're cracking me up too much today. I'm supposed to be on a phone conference, so I have to stifle my laughter.

Hey, can anyone tell me how the Mary Sue phenomenon got its name? There are tons of sites explaining what it is, but I'm having trouble finding out where the name comes from.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Someone wrote a parody in the Trekverse of the oh-so-perfect phenom, named the protagonist Mary Sue, and Bob's your uncle.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I've heard it's from a ST:TNG fic with an Ensign Mary Sue, who was brilliant, etc. and died saving the day. I'm not sure if the fic was in earnest or if it was written to parody a phenomenon the writer had noticed in numerous fanfics.

This is all hearsay, of course.
