I do think she's nailed the style of the molesworth books (which, if you've not read them, I must recommend - VERY amusing reading) and the reflection on HP is splendid.
Nestra's story is THE BEST FIREFLY FIC EVER. Ever. Ever. I've SO been waiting for Mal/Simon this good.

Because of his ministrations, she was twinkling like a planet in the black velvet firmament night, her light brighter than the closest celestial being to the earth, a cliche. She was humming like a cricket rubbing its back paws together in delight, filled with relish and satisfied appetite, every time he did that certain thing he did so well, pronounced that special ‘oh’ he uttered interminably, stereotypical.

Looks to me like she forgot to take out her beta's comments. Oh, except they don't make sense. If there's one thing "her light brighter than the closest celestial being to the earth" is not, it's a cliche. A crime against metaphor, yes.
I'm intrigued at the notion of crickets with paws.
Well, it's little known, but that's how they hum. Little known because after all they're generally known for, um, chirping.
I mentioned to my Due South homeys on IRC last night that Nestra had a new Mal/Simon Firefly story up, and there were practically sprained fingers from clicking to it.

Things got real quiet for about a half hour.
It's kind of fascinating to watch Firefly gradually invade the DS demesne, because many of the fans there aren't big on SF or Buffy -- they try it for the pretty pretty men and get caught up in the acting and characters and before you know it they're sucked up into the whole universe.
I'd like to thank each and every one of you who sucked me into HP fanfiction, first with Lust Over Pendle, and then making me crave more, so I've spent the last few weeks trawling the web for decent stories. If anyone's interested in one of the funniest stories I've ever read, I highly recommend Draco Malfoy, the Amazing Bouncing...Rat? Some Harry/Draco and Ron/Draco subtext, but the most prominent pairing is Draco/Coffee.
