an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

I'm working on that Harvey-in-Scorpy's-head fic right now, so that should relieve the Harvey missage if it doesn't suck.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

I don't think Farscape comes back until the new episodes run in January. Could be wrong, though.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Springer is a real baby whale, an orphan discovered in Puget Sound. She was ill and becoming accustomed to humans.

Ohmigod. Someone wrote Springerfic? Oh dear Lord. That's just bizarre.

(There was awhile there this summer where you couldn't turn on the local news or NPR station without another Springer the Baby Orphaned Orca story.)

Thrive to spite them

That's based on a real animal. Dear god in heaven. Trust me if you read it you'll be groaning at the badness before you ever get introduced to Springer the Whale.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I clicked on the link and looked at a paragraph or two. I groaned, and laughed hysterically. Earnest as can be, and with that whole "The Pacific Northwest is Way Mystic and Spiritual, Dude" cliche going for it.

Thrive to spite them

I read more than a paragraph, you really need to read how she described Krychek...I mean Alex. And his redemtion through becoming a Water Baby. And how, now his two lovers are trying so hard to teach him how to be human again. I mean, dude they (Skinner and Mulder...I'm Walther and Mulder) even brush Alex's teeth, or they did at the beginning when he reverted from Water Babyhood back to human.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Nutty, you're an angel. You and PMM will find yourselves being plied with my scribblings later this weekend, I suspect. I need to find an X Files site for canonical gap-filling to try to keep myself from misunderstanding the dynamics too badly - I'm sure I'm cruising for a bruising by writing in reaction to a couple of episodes rather than with a proper grasp of the characters' backgrounds & histories.

...Alex. And his redemtion through becoming a Water Baby. And how, now his two lovers are trying so hard to teach him how to be human again.

See, this kind of fanfic concept boggles my mind beyond all previous levels of boggledom. I mean, it doesn't appeal to me in anything but a carcrash kind of way - but I don't know that I'd call it badfic (sight unseen) on the basis of a concept being so barkingly mad. Because this whole Krycek's-a-unicorn-and-Mulder's-a-Wizard take on playing with the source material is SO far from how I (think I) interact with canon that I kind of don't feel qualified to comment - it's obviously filling some sort of fannish interest that I can't get my head around just now. (As I once said about slash. And LotR RPS. And....oh dear.)

I'll happily state that some of the pieces I dipped into were badly written, in a quantifiable way, and that they seemed to distort characters for the purposes of the fic in an unconvincing fashion, but with this whole Krycek's-a-water-baby thing, or indeed Mulder'n'Krycek-get-married-and-buy-curtains kind of thing...well, it's like I started reading a fanfic that was written in Swahili, or something.

(considers very hard)

I guess some people would say this about Crossovers, yeah? Hmm. Different strokes and all that.

(Jesus, I hope there isn't Different Strokes fanfic out there. Or - dear God - slash. I bet there is, though.)

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Um. PMM? Nutty? Um. Insent. It's only half way through, but perhaps you could tell me if I'm going wrong before I go any further?

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

[/still bemused at writing X Files fic]

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Bright Shiny Objects has been updated with 30-odd stories, a couple of them from Buffistas (whee!). Lots of oddball fandoms in this edition, which I like.

Btw, we moved, so update your bookmarks!

Always Anti-fascist!

Fay, I think you should write whatever your heart, or somewhere else, desires. I loved your Spike and Dru in Prague stories that much.(sorry that I don't remember what you named them.) Willy is used here in the sense that you describe, not as often though. heh, this reminds me of when I was trying to describe to a young girl from the UK why somebody with the last name Head would find middle school challenging.Of course, now I think she may have been taking the piss, just a little, trying to see what the blonde American would say. (of course she had no way of knowing the state of my follicles, but I'm afraid the cliche proved itself that day.)
