I am not...I am not the damsel in distress. I am not some case. I have to work this. I've lived in a cave for 5 years in a world where they killed my kind like cattle. I am not going to be cut down by some monster flu. I am better than that. What a wonder...how very scared I am.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

See, I don't like recs sites on a livejournal. I prefer rec pages where the contents are organized as to fandom and type. And I suppose you could filter your recs somehow with lj, but dude, it'd suck unless it was only for recs in a single fandom.

I totally prefer recs pages on their own pages. I have over a hundred people on my friends list, and I'd miss shit if it was just LJ posted. Though I love that the human filtration system is there to mention recs updates.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Where does one look for recs? I sort of assumed they took the form of email.

Yes, I'm ignorant. I also have a crossbow.

I also have a crossbow.

Feh, everybody has crossbows. I've got a trebuchet.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Deb, shrift and I run Polyamorous Recommendations.

There's also Bright Shiny Objects, also multi-fandom and excellent.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Deb, a lot of writers also maintain their own websites where they recommend fic. And Te has brilliant started an LJ that keeps track of when these recs sites update, and she has links to each site she tracks. It's a fabulous multi-fandom resource. I should send her chocolate or something.

I'm gonna flail and say that it's here. Am I right?

on edit: Score!

Mine's a meatspace crossbow. Not virtual; a real live crossbow, with real live bolts. I don't think everyone's got one of those.

And I can always borrow Tad Williams' trebuchet, if I need one. He's a buddy, he'll lend it.

Rec spaces marked. I'm having the busyness today, and stressing is not good, and today is MS meds night so I'm a wee bit off and painy and cranky and a skosh spaced. pardons in advance if I sound whoofly; this is the MS talking.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

If you want some more rec sites, Deb, email me and I can comb through my bookmarks.

Mostly, my question on recs is self-serving at the moment (time, she is crunched right now, as in, none to spare). How does one know if one is rec - recced -OK, I give up, what's the appreviation? Is it checking all the lists, or what?

Snerk. I've got three of those. Plus half a dozen bows, a dozen swords, and the aforesaid trebuchet. No, to be honest, the trebuchet was disassembled for the winter. For some reason the neighbors get nervous about 12-foot-high siege engines in the next yard over.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

For some reason the neighbors get nervous about 12-foot-high siege engines in the next yard over.

If the siege engine makes them nervous, they should build themselves even bigger siege engines! Silly neighbors -- haven't they ever heard of the arms race?
