I bop to Wittgenstein. -- Nutty

deb, have you read it?

::accepts soup gratefully, as it does not involve facing the rat::

I have a sudden desire to write a story involving Angel and/or Spike killing and eating many rats. Revenge, or something.

Well, it's canon. You could have them debating which breeds taste best. "Now, your common Norwegian brown, that's a bit salty." "That's because all the old fashioned dock rats are extinct now. That's what I was eating when I started this gig."

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

deb, have you read it?

I have not. Hook me up, please?

Connie, I have a picture in my head of Angel, sinking his teeth into a brown hairy, rump, and muttering "Greeeeeat. New Haven Roof Rabbit. Maybe with some chipotle sauce....?"

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I keep seeing things like 'When he can?t take it anymore, when the need is too great for him to contain it, he grasps my wrist and forces me to stop my ministrations.' or 'I pause in my ministrations to her ample breasts when I slide the boxers all the way off her body and find out there is absolutely nothing underneath.'

Now granted, I am reading bad fic for a guilty pleasure (dawson's Creek), but still.

So they're actually using the word in correct context, but it's the symptom of other problems.

Yup--I just have seen it so much that I can't stand the word anywhere.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Dawson's Creek??

I tend to use things like "tender ministrations" only ironically, like "deep, abiding love", which phrase had its own acronym in X-Files Land. Okay, I only ever used that one once, and it became "deep, abiding hatred" before I was done with it.

Although, okay, what is a good word for that? That covers a whole class of behaviors at one blow, from erotic massage to raspberries on the belly? Attentions? See -- we're word-poor for this concept.

Suddenly, my brainahs gone all tangent-y, thinking about "tender fenestrations". Save me from this terrible boring part of my job.

So many people's fics would be improved with a good thesaurus and a dictionary so they can figure out the nuances.

Dawson's Creek??

Well, I said it was guilty. And there really are some good Pacey/Joey stories out there. I've just read all of them, and so was have been trying new things. Not good.
