Yes. Men like sports. Men watch the action movie, they eat of the beef, and enjoy to look at the bosoms. A thousand years of avenging our wrongs and that's all you've learned?

Fan Fiction: Writers, Readers, and Enablers

This thread is for fanfic recs, links, and discussion, but not for actual posting of fanfic.

Mwah, Fay. You're so kind.

She did say she wouldn't have read the story if she hadn't known my name from the SaveFarscape campaign, which I find kind of ironic. Since any credibility I have in the campaign is because I'm a known quantity in the fandom through my fic, and it's odd to have the mojo going the other way. Heh.

Also, my brain is very explode-y from all the fantastically erudite meta conversation on fandom at Escapade.

Yes? And? Are we going to get any reports on this?

Please please please?

I want a multi-fandom con that encompasses all forms of fan creativity, not just slash or het or gen, but everything. With panels on vidding and fic and reccing and the beta process and OTP and the influence of blogging on fandom and all sorts of other stuff. Want.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I opened Blogger and tried to start a con report, but my brain's still whirling.

I think vidding might eat my brain now, though.

You too? I'm thinking and thinking.

Oh, many thanks to whomever posted the link to DebChan and Laura Shapiro's Jayne vid recently. "Money for Nothing" was perfect. So. Very. Funny.

Are we going to get any reports on this?

Not today. Heh.

I'll definitely be writing up an interpretive dance this week that touches on Guinness, cabals, fannish entitlement, happy punch, race/class/gender politics, The Unbearable Importance of Starbucks, OTPs, BNFs, vids, et cetera ad nauseum.

If I fall into vidding, I suspect Laura Shapiro's XF vid "Rook" will be the one to blame.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Between reading the book and reading the LJ I wanted to buy her flowers and then whisk her off to the Cork and Bottle in Leicester Square for cheese and wine and pretentious girly fannish chatter. She seems smashing.

She's a complete lamb. She did some posting in my thread awhile back - Dana, Betsy, ita, juliana et al might remember - but the time difference/catchup factor was impossible, and she was severely spare time-impaired. I'll try and find it and post a bit. Will she know you under FayJay? If not, let me know and I'll wave properly with proper names.

(edit: might want to find a smallish club closer to West London than W1, for whisking her off purposes....)

Ms. Consuela, I don't know her from the fan fic thing, but it occurs to me, she with Daw, if she's who I think she is. Eyes of the Empress? Same woman?

Waaaaaaay cool!

Yup, that's her, Deb. I dunno if she's any good, I haven't read any of her fiction. And yes, it was lovely.

I know I shouldn't care where feedback comes from. But ... I do. I'm a bad person.

I've been working on a song about the difference between analogy and metaphor.

Same woman. At least one--maybe two?--fantasy novels from DAW in the early nineties.

I wasn't impressed because I already knew you were cool.

Oh, I totally care. It's not like it doesn't count, but I get an extra thrill when it's from someone I know and respect.
