genfic=plot comes first, not the relationships? A good, chewy plot with maybe the slightest spice of UST or just an ongoing relationship in the background is nice.

There's often no mention of a relationship in true genfic. Like watching an episode, or something. Or them play in the park, with no overt sexual undertones.

Brighid writes some of the most fabulous stuff in any fandom, so I bet her Stargate is pretty nifty.

Ghost is a wonderful gen CSI fic that reads like a two-part sweeps episode.

For me, the thing that makes or breaks a fic is whether or not the writer gets the characters right. What really impresses me is when an author can get a character to do something that is utterly surprising but that also seems like something that is absolutely in character.

The story Dana mentioned upthread, Amperage's "Coyote at Starbuck's," is really fucking great. So sweet. And surreal. But it has spoilers for the end of season five and the beginning of season seven.
