The Mummy Hand overtook Buffy, apparently.

Misery. Company. Like rum and coke.

And see, now I want rum and coke.

if I can ID it as his I can finally offer it as one Eminem song I heard casually and didn't absolutely immediately totally-reluctantly love.

Yeah, that's him. I'm not fond of it either. It's the obvious "first single" off The Eminem Show. He writes something similiar on each album and then gets pissed off and cranky when people cite those songs as their favorites instead of the tracks he bled his heart all over. Tcch, Marshall, Marshall, don't write 'em if you hate 'em. There are at least 7 better tracks than that on The Eminem Show. But now I'm veering wildly off-topic so I'll stop :)

You sip / say it's your crazy / straw say it's you're crazy / as you bicycle your soul / with beauty in your basket

RL, I'll have to disagree with that. This is a forum that's easy to post in. If you want to talk about or respond to a post in this forum, do so.

Don't take it to an entirely different public forum where the original poster isn't around to discuss it.

I'm very sorry, I thought you were saying "since you aren't one of us, you can't properly take a poster's comment in the light we do; therefore you didn't wholly understand her post; therefore you're not really eligible to discuss it". Sorry.

The Mummy Hand overtook Buffy, apparently.

Oh. Dear.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Fay, don't read the bad fic. I've got a bunch-- or a few, I don't know, but they're GOOD-- of HP recs, if you're interested. Shall I email you?

Please!

I don't want to ever be at a board where someone's got to apologise for bringing up a topic, apologise based only on the virtue of the topic itself

See, the thing is I do want to be able to talk about the RPF thing, for the reasons I've gone into before, but more important than that I don't want to cause people to link to the threads and come over here being shouty* and/or make people think twice about whether or not they can post. Which is just what's been happening in the Firefly thread lately, with all the damned articles about Joss and Tim (whose posts are always the source of squealing fangirl glee to me, I should add). And I don't want the Buffista posters who are BNF types in this or other fandoms to feel like they need to bite their tongue. I cherish this place and the atmosphere that you've described above, and the prospect of it being gatecrashed by angry ranty people upsets me. Especially if it's as a result of something I've done.

But at the end of the day there is no way to prevent Jo(e) Lurker from linking to any conversation here, so it's futile of me to get my knickers in a twist. For some reason Embitca's LJ post freaked my shit out, and the thought of having our conversation suddenly appear in Fandom Wank really upset me. Like knowing that you're talking to your mates in front of a CCTV camera, but then still being horrified when the conversation turns up on Candid Camera.

But then I'm feeling vaguely tearful and vulnerable and crap at present, so I'm probably not wearing my most Rational!Fay hat at the moment. Ignore me.

*which hasn't happened, obviously, outwith a few random posters over in Firefly.

Hmm. t nervous I do *really* love that one, that was playing in all the 8 Mile previews, the one that talks about don't-miss-this-opportunity? It's the best song to skate to. It's only shown up by "Shed Your Skin". Which the DJ already plays for me every week anyway, with much eye-rolling.

/off-topic badness

Sweetie! Oh dear. Don't feel bad.

I'll send you the recs as soon as I get onto the other computer. It's not quite working at the moment.

Oh darlingest of Lizards, could you send me the HP recs too? I'm sloooooowly being lured into reading HP fic, and I'd like something GOOD to read.

But that's apparently my issue, and the internet is changing, as is netiquette.

I've been around the Internet longer than Buffy's been on TV. I've been on the Internet since before there was a worldwide web, before there was an AOL, before there was any kind of graphical user interface. And I'm sorry, but I'm just not seeing how I breached netiquette by commenting about a post in one public forum on another one.

Also, Buffistas does not allow anonymous posting. I had to register with a real email address and then verify the registration. I know it doesn't seem like a lot to you, but it was to me and I took the time to come over here and respond after you took issue with holding the discussion elsewhere.

t smooch

Ignore me.

Never.

And I think this whole thing, plus the Firefly thing, brings up the issues we fretted over while we were still at WX: about privacy, and our Buffista Island tendencies; how easy we are to find now, and the unfortunate (from my view) publicity we'll get as a result; becoming this large and popular that the VIPs come and post occasionally; and the impact of being this large and popular, when we're so used to having a much smaller sense of community. It's definitely something that will require a closer look very soon.
