FayJay, I guess I was a little perturbed that you were so hesitant to Rec someone's fic because it was RPF like we're the retarded cousin that's kept in the attic with the two other platinum blonde childen who have an incestuous relationship. Fair point, well made. Out of interest, how did you first get into the RPF thing? I very much enjoyed the AtS/Eminem story you posted to Silverlake the other week - part of the ongoing Fay's-Head-Exploding thing that's going on at the moment with regard to RPF. (See also LJ slash, LotR RPS etc etc.) Is it just a straightforward thing for you, then, writing the RPF? Because I find that it does my head in in a way that writing fictional people doesn't. I mean, the fictional people don't exist. I can know them totally and utterly with the same degree of authority as the show's writers, if I do my research. But the real people - whole different ballgame. I know that there are lots of AUs for the SDB and LotRiPS, and this whole bring-your-own-narrative thing makes me conceptualise the stories in a different way from the fiction-based stories.

Aye, I appreciate where you're coming from. In my LJ I wouldn't be so tentative, because that's my LJ and nobody has to read it. But this community is based around a fiction-based fandom, and I'm aware that people here do find RPS offensive. I respect that. YSquickMV.

Okay, this is the downside to RPS. I can't kill any of them. That feels like crossing a line that I can't bring myself to cross.
