Fan Fiction: Writers, Readers, and Enablers

Hmm. Ickle!Ginny badness is looking kind of good today, I have to say. You know, because as long as they're the same age, it's okay.
Now, see, this is why I have to slap myself upside the head with the Humbert Humbert stick at times wrt you, my darling. I'm quite head over heels in love with your online self, but I have to remind myself forcibly that your corporeal self CAN have such thoughts about canonical Ginny without actually incurring a particularly unpleasant level of Special Hell, what with the age gap. Whereas corporeal Fay? That kind of thinking would get me stuck in the level of Hell where they play non-stop Boyband muzak and recite Patience Strong poetry. AND make you walk over cobbles whilst wearing high heels. Icy cobbles.
Sigh. I
am
Humbert Humbert - with the Connor-oost, and the Connor-slash liking, and the Clark-Kent's-only-Fifteen-but-what-the-hell. And the HP-porn. Which, on the up side, means that I'm played by the sexy sexy James Mason in the b&w film version. And on the down side means that I'm universally despised and miserable as sin.
But I still have
no
wish to read ickle!Ginny/anyone. Ever. Ever. Ever. 'Cause she's ickle.YIGSquickMV
I think that Harry and Pansy are the same year. Ginny's a year younger.
So when Ginny is old enough to have the porny!fun- at seventeen- Harry and Pansy will be eighteen, ie, finishing whatever the Wizard equivalent of A-levels is. Right?
Harry's the same age as Pansy, and one year older than Ginny.
wrod.
whatever the Wizard equivalent of A-levels
NEWTs, I believe. OWLs are Ordinary Wizarding Levels. (GCSEs) NEWTS are (thinks hard)...er, something else. Wizarding A Levels, in essence.
So, assuming 2 years between OWLs and NEWTs, if Ginny's just done OWLs and is starting NEWTs, and Harry and Pansy are finishing NEWTs, I'm in the clear for porn.

Snerk.
Oh, I have such strange triggers about issues of young children and sex. I mean, probably not
very
strange, but intense. I got stuck one night, I was reading all this Lost Boys slash that was just written *so* well, and so movingly, and so good, and it was incest slash, of course, and I was just freaking out unable to stop reading but in a high state of distress. It's a very viscerally important issue, for me; one of the most. It's surprising. And I loved the LB slash partaways because I love bad-wrong-horrible-the-world-is-doomed fiction, the way I loved the BtVS Wishverse.
But at the same time, kid/kid love seems light and sweet and strangely affecting, with slight meta-story bad-wrong overtones but basically wonderful.
So I am strange.
Some people seem to feel like that about hobbits, which I find strange. But we all have different squick-triggers: one thing that triggers squick for me is abuse of trust- I can't deal with Xander/Giles, although I read Xander/Angel, Giles/Angel, Xander/Spike and Giles/Spike with pleasure. Might be the vampire factor I'm after, of course, but I don't think so. Xander/Riley and Giles/Ethan are okay. I also don't read incest at all. Just...don't.

Hmm. Well, I like Zahra's Harry/Draco, despite the fact that they're wee, because she writes them like they
would
be at that age - with the cute wee boy crushage, and not The Big Gratuitous Sex. So, yeah, that's cute. And somebody wrote an
adorable
and utterly silly AU Baby!Clex thing in which they were both the same age (just go with it) and met when they were five. Instead of The Porsche there was The Purple Tricycle Of Fate. It was just unbelievable tooth-rotting sweetness and it totally disarmed me. I was all 'Aaaaw, Bless!' incoherent. But not in a porny way, just in an 'Aaaw bless' way. Um.
I have no problems with sexy hobbits, but I've never really seen hobbits as being particularly child-like -- just short. I mean, they have a whole society, with, I figure, reproduction and all that going on. I do have problems with reading about characters under 15 or so in sexual situations. No personal history issues for me, it's just a squick. Likewise incest fic. On the other hand, breaking trust? Nonconsensual? Authority figure gone bad? Bring it on. I've got a serious badboy, and/or rougue authority-figure thing that a) finds a deep resonance in Ripper and b) I've managed to keep within the bounds of fic, luckily. NC-17 Fan-fic: keeping Calli off the streets and at her keyboard for 6 years and counting.
Well, you're welcome to it. I don't like noncon. Not here, not there, not anywhere.
