I think I like the idea more than the precise execution, but the opening sucked me right in and made me go to my happy killing place.

These days, honestly, a well-written anything will tide me over its contents. I'm getting more and more impatient with fic that's even mildly bad.

Yeah, it was a little obvious, but I loved the knife talk.

I'd quite like to read Father Ted Slash. But then I have an unhealthy degree of affection for Father Dougal.

Not Harry, at this point. But I'm trying to get them together, or at least lay the groundwork. Pesky boys with their pesky not liking each other-ness. Um. And, despite my best intentions and my qualms about writing the HP porn (they have to be 17 at this point, I'm fairly sure, much as I'd like them to be 18) I seem to have just written The Big Gay Sex. It's far more coy and seemly than my Big Gay Sex stories in other fandoms, but - um. Oh, again, dear.

But I just found myself so very overexcited by the idea - and I've started a little zeitgeist thing, because I told Zhara about my plans involving school ties and a vaguely St Sebastian-pose, and this led to Zhara writing tie-centric bondage and Diva getting thoroughly carried away with the St Sebastian thing. But it has also led to some sizzling porny goodness in the Tissue of Silver- verse, to follow immediately after the climax of the snogfic. What with them both being card-carrying grown ups and all, her story is considerably more detailed than mine. Keep your eyes peeled.

(I'm not suggesting, incidentally, that the notion of using school ties in the HP shaggage is new - I have absolutely no doubt it's a hoary cliche, but I haven't read widely enough to know. It's just that there's suddenly a lot of it going on in the folks I do read.)

From what I've read- which isn't that wide, but covers some- ties in HP are pretty much like swords in LotR, ie, the easiest Freudian-type-thing going. And like a stake in the Buffyverse, they're, um, good.

And by good I mean Freudian, and by Freudian I mean porn.

And speaking of HP, can someone direct me to a crash course in 'who the hell is x?' for the Rowlingverse, please?

It seems I'm writing HP in the course of slashing my slashers, and I don't know who Ginny or Pansy are.

Ginny is the Weasleys' only girlchild - she makes a fleeting appearance in HPatPS, then attends Hogwarts in HPatCoS. She's the one who gets tangled up with Tom Riddle's journal, poor dear. Canonically she has a terrible tongue-tying crush on Harry, bless her little ginger heart.
