From what I've read- which isn't that wide, but covers some- ties in HP are pretty much like swords in LotR, ie, the easiest Freudian-type-thing going. And like a stake in the Buffyverse, they're, um, good.

Ginny is the Weasleys' only girlchild - she makes a fleeting appearance in HPatPS, then attends Hogwarts in HPatCoS. She's the one who gets tangled up with Tom Riddle's journal, poor dear. Canonically she has a terrible tongue-tying crush on Harry, bless her little ginger heart.

Pansy is Pansy Parkinson, a Slytherin lass.

So if I was heading for, say Ginny/Pansy, I might be considering the evil Slytherian Pansy pulling Ginny away from her crush on Harry?

Yep. You could totally build on the Bad Things little Ginny did whilst she was under the influence of Tom Riddle, to make her feel like she should have been sorted into Slytherin. And Harry's continuing obsession with Cho and his determination to see Ginny as a little step-sister-type-person wouldn't help.

This is FUTUREFIC we're talking about, yeah? Because I can't get the idea of ickle!Ginny out of my head. But there's only a year between them, so it's not squicky in an agegap way, in the manner of t shudder Snape/Ginny t /shudder
