Apparently I'm the first person to notice this?
The Guardian has an article on HP fic today. Also references Buffy, Xena, & Trekfic, and provides the mandatory link to FF.net.
Wonder if the writer of the article knew about the plagiarism issue that's tarnished the writer they chose to focus on... probably not. ::shrugs::
Okay, that article sucks. "Scottie"? "Dr. Spock"?
I'm a bit annoyed since I know for a fact that someone on the Grauniad's editorial staff has a deep and multi-fandom knowledge of fanfic. Clearly she was not consulted for this article.
t shrugs
I'm gonna have to poke her.
Bwahahah! Dr. Spock!!!
Okay, maybe somebody is or has written Kirk/Dr. Spock.
Possibly an mpreg story?
sumi, that's just simply evil. Congratulations.
Thank you.
Now, if only I could have worked in My Pretty Pony or the Backstreet Boys. . .
I'm sorry, did someone say there was plagiarism in Harry Potter fic?
Signed, grimly-amused LJ surfer.
Now I'm having flashbacks to the My Pretty Pony fic I read.
The site I found had strict rules to the type of fiction that was acceptable...obviously anything of an adult nature was not acceptable.
I wonder if there is Strawberry Shortcake fic out there? or Rainbow Brite.
Or Strawberry Shortcake Rainbow Brite crossover fic.
I would never say such a thing, ever. But I might point out that you won't find a certain HP writer's stuff on FF.net.
To be less snarky, I sort of participated in a long multi-blog discussion on this about a year ago, when Jintian started talking about it. There *is* a line between plagiarism and infringement, but it's amazing how many people seem to think that fanfic=plagiarism and therefore any plagiarism within fanfic is okay. You know, the "it's just fanfic, what's your problem?" school of argument.
I'm sorry, did someone say there was plagiarism in Harry Potter fic?
Around the same time it was mentioned that Lana's parents were dead, I think.
Though I haven't seen it on Fandom Wank today. Perhaps the kerfluffle's passe.
