Problem is, while I was watching the movie, I wanted to hunt down the guys who wrote the movie and beat them unconscious with a large dildo.

I don't find sexual assault and verbal abuse to be all that jokey.

I guess that's what fan fiction is for -- I was either going to write a story where I addressed some things my brain was screaming about while the inner horndog was busy with Michael Rosenbaum's cute posterior in red satin panties, or I was going to land myself in jail by battering Joe Jarvis and Greg Coolidge with a large fake penis.

I'm reading some puppyslash, idly, because I found the writer's lj and I'm procrastinating bored; and out of a sick fascination that-- well, that anyone would write RPF, but also that anyone would ever find these people interesting enough to write about. I mean, fucking boy bands, what is underneath the surface?

But that's not why I came here. I wanted to ask.... My irony meter has been blown all to hell, all right? I can't detect sarcasm unless it's is printed in An Ironic Font, I've been reading too many shitty fiction pieces for my day job.

Wrod to the wrod power. I have a hard time watching date rape played for the joke factor. And verbal humiliation played for comedy doesn't usually do it for me, either. Of course, I'm just guessing what goes on in SB, based on what I've read in people's comments and what I gleaned from PiP.

Good work! I really liked how you touched on Adam's/Adina's trauma response in a subtle-but-serious way, and how that gets worked in while Adam figures out how to become comfortable with who he is. Also, avoiding a life of crime with the dildo. ;)

It's terrible. I have to admit I didn't get all the way through it- I gave up at "his hard maleness". I need to scrub my brain out! And the worst part is, I strongly suspect that RL's ironyometer isn't broken, and the writer is actually serious about it. Ugh!

Re: the RPS, specifically BB, I don't get it either, RL. (Could I possibly have abbreviated more words in that last sentence?) It was one of those things that I could easily classify as something that was so very Not My Thing that I would never need to think about it. But then I noticed that there were writers who wrote an awful lot of (primarily, even) boybands slash who also wrote stuff in other fandoms that I really, really liked and respected. This made me question my worldview for a little while, (should I try reading this stuff? Is there more substance there than I think? Does it matter that I would rather eat dirt than listen to the music and I don't know who these guys are?) but I decided to just let it go. It's out there, apparently talented, smart people who share some of my interests are way into it, and I will always be mystified by it.

Oh, that fic? So, so bad. If it's real, well. If it's a joke, I think we need to be clued in a bit more. Reading fic shouldn't hurt so much.
