Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Oh wait, Black Sheep has opened, yes?

Yes and no. I saw a bunch of cities listed and the weeks it would be opening, and there was NO MENTION OF BOSTON!!! Durham, NC yes, Boston no. Harumph.

I'm also still kicking myself that I missed LABYRINTH the week it played at Kendall. If it hadn't been the week of the 4th, I would have tried to organize a localista outing to it.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It played at the second-run Somerville Theatre for quite a good amount of time, IIRC. (it = Labyrinth .)

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Hairspray!

No, not PAN'S LABYRINTH - the David Bowie/Jennifer Connolly/Jim Henson/Terry Jones LABYRINTH. For some reason they put out a newly restored print and Kendall had it last week, but only last week.

I saw PAN'S LABYRINTH, though it took me WAAAAAY too long to get around to it (now I own it).

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

The Bourne Ultimatum! I'm probably more excited for that one than HP5.

Kate P. is me. There was a "behind-the-scenes" clip yesterday before Waitress and it totally made me want to rewatch the first two.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

For some reason they put out a newly restored print

So that the masses may enjoy The Codpiece of David Bowie in its original splendor?

(I swear, the thing that sticks with me from seeing it on the big screen is how distracting Bowie's crotch is...)

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Most of what I remember of the second one, sadly, is being so nauseated by the rapid camera movement in the various chases that I couldn't even watch it. I don't think I have a very good grasp of the plot at this point, beyond "Matt Damon pissed. Matt Damon kick some ass."

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

So aside from Harry Potter, what else are people looking forward to seeing that's coming out this summer?

Waitress, Bourne, POTC3, Knocked Up... well, really, anything on a big screen. I miss Going To The Movies, dammit!

I remember the mournful Night Of The Hunter- like underwater shot, and then a whole bunch of "Matt Damon broken. Matt Damon kill. Matt Damon still broken. Matt Damon my big broken lethal woobie."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think my shaky visual field helps me with the Bourne movies. Unless mentioned that the camera jittered, I don't think I'd notice.
