Do I wish I was somebody else right now. Somebody not... married, not madly in love with a beautiful woman who can kill me with her pinkie!

Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Bon bon, you are brave to contradict R. Lee Ermey. He could tell me that the world is flat and that history's greatest filmmaker is Michael Bay and I would holler, "SIR YES SIR!"

Hey, Vonnie, I think the Kubrick guy you're talking about was that asshat Merrwit. Haven't heard from him in years.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

In other news, am I the only one who's slightly weirded out that Angelina Jolie is playing Mariane Pearl with a tan and an afro wig?

What? Is blackface now unfashionable?

Here's the logic I heard: Angelina is part French; Mariane is part French.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I'm never in here, because I never get to see movies.

Dr. Strangelove and Casablanca are in my top 5 along with Blazing Saddles, Destry Rides Again and PCU.

Also y'all should see this. It's got 2 of the people from MI 5 and Wash [link]

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Peter Dinklage!

I watched Threshold entirely for him.

My friends saw an advance at the Angelika and raved about him and Alan. Apparently it's an awesomely funny movie. I saw the preview at Waitress, and they said it didn't even cover a third of the funny.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

The logic I heard (read: read in an interview with Pearl this week) is that MP asked her to play the part.

Not that I don't think it's weird, just a different flavor of weird.

(Psst, Plei! W&P in Boxed Set in, oh, a minute or two.)

Destry Rides Again

This is one of many reasons why you are insanely cool.

I would argue that it's Jimmy and Deitrich that are insanely cool. Really, I'm not a huge fan of cat fights, but that movie has the. best. ever.

I think I just like Stewart westerns. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is also made of awesome. So much lost innocence.
