Colour me blind! Tia Dalma (the witchy woman) from PotC2 and 3 was the black chick in 28 Days Later.
Yes! Isn't she awesome? I knew I recognized her when I watched
28 Days Later
recently but needed IMDB to confirm.
Just got back from POTC3. It was pretty much exactly the movie I was expecting to see, although with
less swordfighting than I would have liked.
I was quite glad to see
the pair of hapless redcoats from the first movie (do we know their names?), and especially glad to see them end up (gleefully) as pirates. Loved Keith Richards' cameo, and agree that there should have been more Chow Yun-Fat. Keira Knightley still fails to impress me much, but I have mad love for Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom (oh, Orlando! Never change!), who more than make up for Keira.
I also have to agree that this movie featured the monkey's best work.
Basically, I enjoyed it, but I don't really ever need to see it again.
I liked Orly more in this movie than the other two. He seemd more THERE somehow.
He seemd more THERE somehow.
He totally did. And in the
Western
scene on that little
spit of sand where Jack, Barbossa and Elizabeth are approaching them and
he's standing with his weight kind of on one leg and stuff? Jaysus hot. I may need to renew my fan club card.
I think I would see it again, but I don't think I'd buy it unless it were on sale. Do want the soundtrack though. Sufficiently different from #1, yet familiar. The soundtrack for #2 failed to make any impact on me at all.
And man, did I ever love hearing the Jack theme for the first time in the flick. Not as uplifting as the various LotR themes, but still fun.
Must go see Pirates.
I just watched The Wild with Owen--sort of a lame-ass Disney animal animation flick. Not nearly as entertaining as Madagascar but it's got Eddie Izzard as a koala. So damned funny.
From Wizardnews:
Confirmed: Order of the Phoenix release date moved up 2 days
ComingSoon is reporting that Warner Bros. Pictures has moved up Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix two days, from Friday, July 13 to Wednesday, July 11. This will give the movie a potential big five-day opening, from Wednesday through Sunday.
I enjoyed PotC3, though the bit with the
maelstrom
went on way too long without much of importance happening.
I agree with ita about the
Endeavor getting blown up scene
coming across as saddening and at odds with the rest of the film.
This is one of those comics or movies things but here:
Gaiman Adapting Death?
Film Ick reported a rumor that author Neil Gaiman will direct his first feature film later this year: an adaptation of his graphic novel Death: The High Cost of Living, based on his own script.
Citing an anonymous source, the site reported that Gaiman discussed the movie with Pan's Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro a couple of weeks back.
The site also reported that the film will most likely shoot in late autumn or early winter in the United Kingdom, that Transformers star Shia LaBeouf is "almost certainly going to play the male lead," named Sexton Furnival in the comics, and that Death—or Didi as she calls herself in her mortal form—has snagged the interest of a famous young actress who will be named soon.
From ScifiWire.
Gaiman's script! With Guillermo del Toro! These are rumors I can get behind.
And Scifi Wire is also reporting that Chris Weitz will adapt Michael Moorcock's Elric to film.
