You mean, Jim Neville from the Black Stallion books. (Did they change the name for the movie? I can't recall.)
Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
You're right--Neville! I was close, but going on sheer memory (it's been too long since I've seen that movie in its entirety--the last time I read the book about four years ago, it definitely did not hold up to my memory of it, unfortunately).
According to IMDB Reno didn't act while he was in school but planned on taking it up after he graduated from high school but was in a car accident where his pick up was hit by a 18 wheeler and he suffered severe injuries and the recovery took so long he lost most of his film connections.
He ended up driving 18 wheelers for a living.
Oh man. I didn't know that about Reno. I'm sorry things turned out badly for him. I hope he's doing well now.
When ESPN Classic was showing Black Stallion a year or so ago, they had recent interviews with some of the actors, including Kelly Reno. Not only is he a trucker, but he and his family run a small ranch (the trucking is the money-maker, though). He really doesn't look that much different now that he's in his 30s.
IOmovieN, I was just checking the Tribune's movie listing, and was happy to find out that Paris, Je T'Aime is opening in one theater just down the street from me on Friday. I think I'll try and see it in June--it's gotten some really wonderful reviews.
ETA: I'm also keeping an eye out for Once to hit the theaters here in Chicago--I read a review in EW that raved about it.
Anthony Michael Hall has been cast in The Dark Knight!!
When the Apple iPhone commercial began airing, my first thought was that I wanted one. My second thought: How much will I get in residuals for the one-second clip from the first Charlie’s Angels?
The answer came yesterday in a big green envelope:
I'm watching Casino Royale for the first time. Right now I'm slogging through the "we're in love part". I didn't read any spoilers so I wasn't sure exactly how it ended, I kept waiting for the girl to get killed.
Daniel Craig makes a super super super sexy Bond. And in some lights he looks like a beefier CKR. It's kinda weird.
Although that kind of torture gets a PG 13 rating and if there was smoking they'd want an R probably. The MPAA rating system is fucked up.
I'm sure if they'd actually shown the parts of Bond Le Chiffre was abusing, it would have gotten an R or NC-17.
And possibly a significant boost at the box office.
There should have been more skin. I wanted Vesper to be bad through and through not blackmailed into it. And then dying to free James or whatever.
Wait! It's over James Bond has a big gun and a man at his feet there should be more killing.
No to add Daniel Craig to the netflix list. The running stuff was really really good. Nice to see it done really well and then have Bond struggling a long, but still getting the guy.
There are talks of another movie right?
