LotR trilogy. Multiple viewings of multiple James Bond movies. But that shouldn't count. That's more like, "I want to be in James Bond Land" rather than a comment on the worth of the movies. Probably the same could be said of the original Star Wars trilogy.

Yeah, I think I need to distinguish between movies I've rewatched for extra-meritorious reasons (like, Toy Story 2 because Emmett loved it so much when he was 4, or It's friday night and I'm a teenager in Miami, let's go See Rocky Horror) and movies I have actively rewatched for because I loved the movie itself.

Most watched in a theater in the pre-video era? Bladerunner. I saw that every time it came up on a Rep House calendar for 8 years. Similarly sought out theatrical showings of Touch of Evil and Sunset Boulevard many, many times.

Most watched ever would probably be The Adventures of Robin Hood (Flynn) or The Wizard of Oz - those were regular TV events. If you missed the Wizard of Oz back then, you'd have to wait a whole year to see it.

Most watched double-feature at a Rep House? Harold and Maude/King of Hearts (they always played them together). Nobody even remembers King of Hearts anymore. (Alan Bates, France, crazy people during a war. Same kind of mordant uplifting vibe as Harold and Maude.)

eta: Sophia reminds me that I've had a lot of rewatches on Screwball comedies: Thin Man, My Man Godfrey, The Lady Eve, Ball of Fire, Holiday, Philadelphia Story - all have more than a dozen viewings.

I love that movie! With the young Genevieve Bujold! I haven't seen it in ages. Must do something about that.

At the risk of being shunned from the board forever, I gotta admit I fail to feel the OMG BEST EVER!! squee about Princess Bride. I mean, I liked it and found it amusing, but that was about it. I have similar reactions to a lot of other cult favourite though (e.g. This Is Spinal Tap and that... uhm, Holy Grail movie of Monty Python's.)

I don't rewatch movies a lot. Of the movies I own on DVD, the one I've rewatched the most is probably My Brilliant Career.

Heh. That's probably true. I think I was already over 30 when I first watched it and my main reaction to it was ".... ermm, it's cute." It also strikes me as the kind of movie that's better enjoyed in the company of like-minded people. I watched it by myself after much "you haven't watched it??" from people, so bloated expectation may have also played the role.

Alan Tudyk plus Tom and Zoe from Spooks. Looks pretty funny, though hopefully Alan's part won't be too watch from the hall.

I've seen King of Hearts! Mostly because I heard it was similar to Harold and Maude. I remember liking it, but not much else about it.

My favorite memory of The Princess Bride was watching it in India, with a rented VCR and a tenth-generation copy of the movie, with the other Americans in my group. The tape fuzzed out badly at several key parts, which caused much grumbling, but almost immediately we all began speaking the lines and narrating the action that we were missing on screen.
