What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Ron Perlman as the Comedian.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

I could actually sorta see Christian Bale with his hair bleached as Ozymandias.

I also kinda think Michael Keaton would make a good Rorschach. He can do the right kinda crazy, I think.

I thought you'd like that. I looked at the picture on Wikipedia and thought, "Who's a burly, craggy-faced guy who looks good chomping a cigar?" The answer was obvious.

Ooh!

Aaah, yes.

So who's got Zack Snyder's e-mail address?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Just got back from seeing Hot Fuzz (which comes out in the US in April) -- it is MADE OF AWESOME. It's got all the same style and humour of Shaun and Spaced, but it takes everything to a whole new level. It's so great to see these guys maturing and stretching out and finessing their old tricks and adding in new ones. They just keep getting better and better.

Oh, excellent! I'd seen someone on Ellis's boards saying that it was still very funny, but less... I dunno, finely-detailed?... than Shaun. Which made me ever-so-slightly less enthused about it. But I agree with you a lot more than I do with this other dude, so now I shall disregard him. Pfft.

But if I'm disappointed, it's all on your head!

I love the trailer that's all EXPLOSIONS, SANTA CLAUS, A DUCK, MORE EXPLOSIONS...

It knows what I want in a movie.

Oh, I disagree. It's drawing on less geeky source material, but it's still just as sharp. I think I probably got more of the background reference jokes in Shaun, but only because zombies and video games are more familiar to me than buddy cop movies. (And it's not all ungeeky -- there may or may not be a BtVS fandom reference. DH is going to ask them about it at the junket, if he winds up going, because I really want to know if I'm right.)

Cate Blanchett and Peter Jackson both make hilarious uncredited cameos. Cate's is much easier to spot, since she has lines (though you never see her face). PJ is only onscreen for a split second.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I imagine Peter Jackson loved Shaun of the Dead!

No, it was... um. I should probably just find the post but my brain is all full right now. I'll look tomorrow. What I recall is, he was saying that Shaun had all those self-referential gags that you only appreciate on seeing the movie a second (or whatever-ith) time -- like the gaming at the beginning that parallels the zombie shoot-em-up near the end. Man, I have no idea if that makes sense outside my head. But it was stuff like that he was missing -- that it didn't have as much re-watch-ability, I guess.

I'll look for the post tomorrow, since I feel bad about repeating vague impressions from months ago that I may have misunderstood or misremembered. Although, isn't that what the internet is for?
