Yeah, but you're an amateur fry cook and I come from a long line of fry cooks that don't live past 25.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Huh. Did we know Zach Synder, who directed 300 (which I haven't seen yet but it seems to be gathering incredibly mixed reviews), is set to direct an adaptation of Watchmen? [link]

I did watch Snyder's Dawn of the Dead back when it came out, which didn't impress me overmuch. The trivia section on the IMDb says the project has been associated with various directors including Terry Gilliam, Darren Aronofsky, and Paul Greengrass, all of whom strike me as more interesting choices than Snyder. But then, I've only seen one movie of his, so perhaps I shouldn't judge prematurely.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Hmm. A remarkably nothing film. Sweet, but nothing.

That's what I thought.

There's one hot, gay clinche but it was sadly lacking any Colin Farrell.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Where was Colin's penis supposed to be? I mean, in relation to the film, not his body.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

The scene where he was walking down the hall naked at night was originally wider angle.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

I strongly disagree! I would have used "shallow" instead of "facile."

Now we must engage in a battle of wits! Or, if this were a Fincher movie, a battle of half-wits!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Yep!. (And based on that interview, I'm hesitantly hopeful, which is a nice change from previous Watchmen movie news.)

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

"My plan with Watchmen is the same as my plan with 300: to get at what makes it a great book," he says, adding that the flaw with most of the earlier incarnations was that they strayed too far from the source material. "I look at it as if we're making Moby Dick-you don't change it." As with 300, Snyder has been using Moore's graphic novel as a storyboard during the pre-production process and plans to recreate artist Dave Gibbons' illustrations as closely as possible, while also peppering the movie with visual cues to such instantly recognizable films as Taxi Driver and Dr. Strangelove. "I'm interested in making an iconographic film of Watchmen, because I feel that's the way the book is drawn," he explains. "There's so much pop-culture referenced on the page, if you make a movie that's smart enough to do that, then you're in the right [ballpark]." But don't expect Watchmen to be filmed in the same manner as 300. For one thing, Snyder feels that a movie version of Moore's book demands more "hard reality" than Miller's deliberately exaggerated take on ancient history.

That does sound pretty promising.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

I just don't see how they'll get anywhere near the scope of the book in a two or two and a half hour movie.

Hey, wanna play the favorite "Casting Watchmen" game?

Patrick Stewart as Dr. Manhattan?

Patrick Stewart as Dr. Manhattan?

Hm. I always see ol' Jon Osterman as being younger than Patrick Stewart.

Maybe Liam Neeson? With his head all shaved?

I've always been partial to Dan Aykroyd as Nite Owl, but he may be getting too old for that. Maybe Greg Grunberg, though.
