Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I also heard that while the title is appropriate for the man it's about, you wouldn't really know that from the movie - at least not from what they show you, as opposed to tell you.

It's a terribly badly directed movie. Muddy and poorly edited and meandering. Depp has some good moments and so does Samantha Morton, but the film itself is horribly tiresome.
This is classic--the Man in Black meets the Man in Black. Up there with her meeting of the two Captain Jacks!

My mind went to Will Smith rather than Westley. Glad I was wrong!
her meeting of the two Captain Jacks!
Huh. I went there expecting the Captain Jack from Dr. Who. There are just too damn many Jacks in fandom these days.

What a waste of Johnny Depp in a wig and frock coat. *sigh*
Warner Brothers has bought the rights to The Sparrow for Brad Pit's production company.
Oh, good God. Brad Pitt *is* going to play Emilio Sandoz, isn't he? Or possibly the character will be renamed as... I don't know, Emil Shepperd or something and will turn out to hail from Springfield instead of Puerto Rico.
