Hey, preaching to the choir. I thought our Lady of the Perpetual Sea Breeze was the real deal until the Divine Miss J walked right through that door and right into my ass—which is where my heart is…physiologically. I could show you an x-ray.

Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Cross posted to lj & F2F.

I just found out that omnis_audis has never seen Shaun of the Dead. We're watching it at my house Monday night unless someone with a bigger TV invites us over. Did any of you LAistas manage to miss this gem?

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I used to be excited about the thought of a movie version of The Dark is Rising. Now, I'm just heartbroken.

move out and draw fire

OMGWTFAMERICAN?!?!?!

Is that so the Dark can all be British, so the accents tell us who's evil? What about Merriman? Is he going to be American also? Maybe he'll be a Magical Negro (since they clearly haven't read the books).

And, why screw with the family dynamics?

I like this comment about Bran: "He's not albino, just really blond dude."

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I used to be excited about the thought of a movie version of The Dark is Rising. Now, I'm just heartbroken.

I...but...what? Why? WHO? WHY WHY WHY?

What is my problem? I post in Music when I want Movies and Movies when I want Music!

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

You're craving musicals?

Hey. New board.

...that casting call is evil and wrong. I am sad. After the awesomeness that was the Chronic(what?)cles of Narnia, I keep wanting all of my childhood fantasies to be good movies.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm fascinated by the reviews of Tideland.

How can a movie that inspires that much upset be meritless? I mean, the tone of the reviews isn't just that the movie is bad, there's a moral tone of revulsion and disapproval. As if Gilliam gets his grimy little nails under their psyche.

But I haven't seen it. It may be utter twaddle, or a droning bore.

Did anybody see it? Jess?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

It may be utter twaddle, or a droning bore.

This was pretty much E's reaction, IIRC. I didn't see it myself.
