Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I don't know where I saw it recently, but YouTube has an old Living Color sketch where Jim Carrey did a great Vanilla Ice, and the physicality was so spot-on I remembered why he used to be so good.

I feel dirty for that comparison now.

Anyhoo, he's an over the top mess like Ben Stiller now but he used to be so, so good. Speaking of which, I finally saw Trading Places last night (can't remember in what thread I was urged to see it) and the rest is pretty dated but, as weird as it feels to say, the thing I kept thinking about Eddie Murphy was that he was fucking incandescent. Lights up every scene he's in, and it's just timeless.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

the thing I kept thinking about Eddie Murphy was that he was fucking incandescent.

Yeah, he was. He also kicks ass in 48 hours. Eddie's better when he's allowed a surly edge.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Is he still dating Scary Spice? Man's got balls.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

He's not. They've split. And she's pregnant. He's denying he's the father.

I see a Maury Povich show in the future.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Man's got sense!

I heard he was going to be Bilbo in THE HOBBIT

Yeah, but only if it doesn't conflict with his shooting schedule for Winnie the Pooh (he's Tigger).

They're also trying to get him for the role of Paul in the remake of Dune.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

F/C/M: Paul Gross, Bruce Campbell, Nathan Fillion.

OUCH. Woman, are you trying to kill me? Okay:

C - Bruce Campbell. I love the man, but he's been quite surly in the last few public appearances I've seen him at. Not that I wouldn't be surly at the legions of unwashed fanboys that seem to follow him around, but still. Also, an American up against 2 Canadians? Totally C.

F - Nathan Fillion. Mmmmm, Nathan. (msbelle will kill me if I try anything, sadly.)

M - Paul Gross. While it would make me sad to take him away from Martha Burns, the man is HOTT (and brilliant, and goofy, and...) and should be mine, ALL MINE.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

JZ, you've not seen S3 of S&A yet? It's *amazing.* Unsurprisingly. Shoot me an email and I will try to hook you up.

OK, speaking of...I've been rewatching Due South, and did she play his mother?
