I'd never heard of parkour either. Very cool. I guess I've done it, in terms of completing military obstacle courses.
We watched Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone last night. It wasn't as bad as I remembered, although man were the effects bad. Mostly we just kept exclaiming, "They're
babies
!!!" Even Alan Rickman looked really young, although he was wearing a ton of makeup so maybe they were trying to age him down. Sean Biggerstaff still has the best accent ever.
Proving that he's our child, Mallory about died during the Hogwarts reveal as the first years boat to it. He was reaching for it and exclaiming "WANT!"
I stopped watching after a half-hour, P-C, for the same reason.
I saw Closer as live theatre a couple years before the movie came out. It's definitely meant to be bleak, with no really likeable or audience-identifiable characters.
I saw the real Pursuit of Happyness guy on Charlie Rose this summer and he was way less mawkish than the movie looked.
I stopped watching after a half-hour, P-C, for the same reason.
I wanted to give it up, but I stuck it out. I suppose it was worth it.
I just saw Closer. I know I'm supposed to like it,
Why? I know a lot of people that don't.
but I wanted to punch everyone in the face except Alice, and not just because it was Natalie Portman. She seemed to be the only one with any sense of decency.
Yeah, she is. Kind of the point, a bit.
The whole movie makes me feel kind of dirty.
I think that may be why I like it. It makes me want to drink scotch.
I really liked 3/4 of the performances in the film (Yes, I'm looking at YOU, JR). i thought the writing was strong and compromising but I also disliked all of them.
I rather like Julia Roberts in the movie, but Jude Law leaves me pretty cold.
I could live without the rest of 'em but Clive Owen is fucking fierce.
I found the massive time jumps really confusing, and it made it hard for me to follow the relationships and/or get any sense of them.
