You're wrong about River. River's not on the ship. They didn't want her here, but she couldn't make herself leave. So she melted... Melted away. They didn't know she could do that, but she did.

Because books.

Yep. Adrian Pasdar (Profit). Jeanette Goldstein and Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton (Aliens). And that girl.

And ... and Jenny something, who was in The Wall as the girl Pink took home during "One of My Turns". Weird thing to remember.

Jenny Wright, I think.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Has anyone posted about this yet?

And more importantly, has anyone told Jilli about it?

Ooooh, look at that. Well, I guess I know what I'm going to be taking a look at when I get home from work tonight.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Note to self: When checking on the possibility of Wicked the movie, don't read message boards. You get something like this:

Does anyone have any info on the film version?PLEASE tell me they're not considering Renee Zelwiger - lol.

Assuming Idina & Kristen are not eligible (Hollywood often requires bigger names)... who's your 'dream cast'? Mine:

ELPHABA - Charlize Theron, Minnie Driver
GLINDA - Megan Mullaly (Karen 'Will & Grace')
WIZARD - Joel Grey, Anthony Hopkins
MORRIBLE - Bette Midler
FIYERO - Hugh Jackman, Rob Thomas
NESSA - Natalie Portman
BOQ - Leonardo DiCapprio

Now, lemme say what I like. I like Bette as Madame Morrible. That's brilliant casting. She'd be awesome.

Yeah. Damned near everything else is bad. I ADORE Megan Mullaly. If I could have her babies, I totally would. But...well...there ain't enough special effects in all of Lucas' one track, sad little mind to make her look 16. Hell, I'd rather Elphie and Glinda be played by Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman. And I LOVE Julia Roberts! (This is tongue in cheek. NO NO NO!)

Leonardo DiCaprio is too tall for Boq. Natalie Portman would be better suited as Elphie. Hugh Jackman? Again, I love him. Would have his babies, but I don't think so. Rob Thomas? Hells yeah. I could totally see that.

The Wizard casting isn't all bad, either.

Anyway, I have no idea what youngish actress I'd cast as Glinda. I must to think on it.

And as far as being "eligible" in Hollywood? Um, hello? They used almost the entire Broadway cast of Rent for the movie. Granted, they all looked too old and it took some people in the audience out of the story, but the hardcore fans went to see it anyway. And some of us who never saw the play loved the movie.

Furthermore, Kristin Chenoweth has been on The West Wing, appeared in Bewitched, and has a bit of a "Hollywood" career.

Personally, I'd like to see Taye Diggs as Fieryo.

Then again, I'd like to see him naked in my bedroom, so there is that.

Ack! I finally sat down to watch the entire trailer for the thing I linked above. Jilli, I'm so sorry I didn't warn you about the spider thingie.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

A Silent Bob one would be kinda cool, except Kevin Smith makes me itch.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

JZ dug into my Val Lewton box set tonight and we watched The Body Snatchers. Holy shit, that's a great horror movie. Fantastic look (using standing sets from The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Magnificent Ambersons), dark, morally ambiguous. Probably Karloff's greatest performance - very sly and sardonic and menacing. Yet weirdly soulful.

Like most Lewton films (this was directed by Robert Wise), it looks and feels a lot like a noir.
