The Departed -- very good, not great. (Not as good as the original, and an hour longer. Excellent performances all around, but not much going on beneath the surface.)
Man of the Year -- sucktastic. The only laughs (and they are few and far betwen) come from Robin Williams recycling his old stand up material. The script is spectacularly dense when it comes to satirizing both politics and media. I'm honestly not sure what planet Levinson was living on when he wrote this.
I've always thought that DiCaprio looked like Jack Nicholson, and my husband can't keep Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg straight, so I'm amused that they are all cast together.
I really don't want to imagine a Bay remake of Near Dark. Will no one think of the children?!?!
So I guess in this version there will be lots of exploding oil wells in Texas?
You just know Bay's going to cast some vapid model-actress that couldn't convincingly intimidate a toddler in the Jenette Goldstein role. And one of those cutesy sitcom kids from Everybody Loves Raymond as Homer.
I'm really interested to see the departed. For some reason I never thought DiCaprio and Damon would ever be in a movie together, but I'm happy to be proved wrong.
Yep. Adrian Pasdar (Profit). Jeanette Goldstein and Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton (Aliens). And that girl.
Plus that seriously creepy kid (and Jean/Gene from QUARK).

And ... and Jenny something, who was in The Wall as the girl Pink took home during "One of My Turns". Weird thing to remember.
MGM in talks to have Peter Jackson direct
The Hobbit.
Has anyone posted about this yet?
And more importantly, has anyone told Jilli about it?

Ooooh, look at that. Well, I guess I know what I'm going to be taking a look at when I get home from work tonight.
