WWI biplane pilots! Way cool arial battles! Exploding zeppelins!
Oooh! Some of my favorite things.
Pan's Labyrinth is the best movie since EVER.
What's it about? Who did it? Who's in it?
'War Stories'
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Pan's Labyrinth is the best movie since EVER. It doesn't come out until December (29th!) and I need to see it again RIGHT NOW.
You've seen it?! You lucky thing. I can't wait for it.
I want to marry Guillermo del Toro's spicy brains. This is a movie I think Jim Henson would have made if he's ever done a truly adult film. It's got all your standard fairy tale tropes, but it's dark as hell for a movie about a little girl who may or may not be a reincarnated princess from the underworld. And beautifully shot -- it shifts POVs absolutely seamlessly.
[eta: Jilli! I need you to see it so I can find out if we agree on Certain Things. I suspect we will.]

Gaaaaah! I don't want to wait until December!
Hivemind question.
For school, one of our assignments states "Choose a movie or work of literature that discusses the topic of education and the arts". We then have some questions we have to answer, regarding art education and adolescents...but I am SUCKING at coming up with a movie or book.
Ideas? Anyone?
You should do "Take the Lead" - the teacher dancing movie with Antonia Banderas.
Or "Dangerous Minds" with the poetry and stuff.
Mr. Holland's Opus.
hahahahahaha
Dangerous Minds is a good idea, haven' seen Take the Lead - and Mr. Holland is all about him, if I remember right, more than the kids.
To Sir with Love! Duh.
Goodbye, Mr. Chips.
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (I think)
Blackboard Jungle.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
Stand By Me (Olmos plus math)
Only The Strong -- Stand By Me with capoeira instead.
