Buffista Movies 5: Development Hell

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Art Crawl!!!

I think this is a different Alatriste trailer.

People aren't looking forward to Nacho Libre? I can't wait. Oh Jack Black, you are so sexy and yet you will not marry me. The life, she is unfair.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

I think it's the ridiculous polyester "leisure clothes" from the Nacho Libre trailer that snagged me. And the stretchy pants line. I also like calling my friends and greeting them with a hearty NACHOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

To each their own. My biggest regret from King Kong was that all the giant animals being computer-generated meant there was essentially no chance of one of them breaking free and eating Black on set.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I love Jack Black with the White Hot Fire of A Thousand Suns. And I don't know why.

But School of Rock really just won me over.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

People aren't looking forward to Nacho Libre? I can't wait.

Emmett's with you. Loves Jack Black.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I don't avoid movies with Jack Black in them (King Kong), but I think I'd rather have my eyes gauged out with spoons than watch Nacho Libre. I just don't see what's supposed to be funny about it. (Which is my main issue with Jack Black in general -- when he's in someone else's movie, he can be funny. Doing his own stuff? It's like we're on different humor planes entirely.)

I can pretty much understand this, except for Tenacious D. I love Tenacious D with massive, massive love.

I find it way easier to explain why I don't like people than why I do. Jack Black just does everything with such gusto, with such enjoyment. It's like he's left irony entirely behind, which is a rare thing these days. But then he can be hilariously sarcastic, and his eyeborows speak volumes. Plus, Tenacious D. Massive bonus points for that right there.

I think that is it-- everything (to me) feels very real and like he is having a great time! Plus, how sweet is School of Rock?
