I've seen honest faces before. They usually come attached to liars.

Le Bloke left Alexander: The Director's cut here, and I'm bored. But am I that bored? I haven't seen either version. Is it worth it?

Only if you're thinking about cleaning out the fridge or something.

Ah. I got distracted following Lost ARG clues 'round the interbunny anyway. I'd heard it was crap, I just didn't know how crap.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

It's worth watching if you play the "drink every time Colin Farrell cries" game while doing so.

(I actually really enjoyed it -- it fails in such a massive and spectacular fashion, and that sort of movie is one of my guilty pleasures in life. Between the crying, and Angelina Jolie's accent (with SNAKES!), and the 40-minute long flashback at exactly the wrong moment, it's kind of fascinating to see just how wrong it goes.)

It's the sort of film I'd rather enjoy watching with a few other classics graduates so we can rip the ever-loving piss out of it from on high, then?

Plus, drinking game.

Well, it's bad enough that though they've run it a million times on HBO(the dark side of all that kick-ass TV, right? Repeats of movies you wanna see once, if that.) I've never wanted to put together the bits and pieces. Considering I don't have much of a life, that's really bad. On weekend afternoons, I'm the world's cheapest date.

Heh. Yes, but you might want to bubble-wrap your TV first, just in case.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

'M:I3' Can't Accomplish Expected Earnings

LOS ANGELES - Fewer people chose to accept Tom Cruise's latest mission, a possible sign that the odd behavior of Hollywood's biggest star may have taken a toll on his box-office charm.

Paramount's "Mission: Impossible III" debuted with $48.025 million, a solid opening yet well below industry expectations and almost $10 million lower than the franchise's previous installment, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Industry analysts had expected the movie to open in the range of "Mission: Impossible II," which debuted with $57.8 million from Friday to Sunday over Memorial Day weekend in 2000, and Cruise's "War of the Worlds," which premiered with $64.9 million from Friday to Sunday over Fourth of July weekend last year.

Compassionately intolerant

Saw MI3 on Friday night. I'd been duped into thinking the secondary characters would get more play this time. Not sure whose gullibility trap I feel into, but the dupe was huge. Fella enjoyed it more than I did. There were some cool blowy-uppy parts but, except for a truly cool/creepy prosthetic of Keri Russell's blown eye nothing really made me go oooh. A lot of the stunts were recycled and not nearly as well done as John Woo's earlier efforts.

The only actual laugh for me came at the very end: Tom: I work for an agency called the IMF. His wife: What does that stand for. Tom: Uh. Impossible. Mission. Force. His wife: Shut UP.
