Saw MI3 on Friday night. I'd been duped into thinking the secondary characters would get more play this time. Not sure whose gullibility trap I feel into, but the dupe was huge. Fella enjoyed it more than I did. There were some cool blowy-uppy parts but, except for a truly cool/creepy prosthetic of
Keri Russell's blown eye
nothing really made me go oooh. A lot of the stunts were recycled and not nearly as well done as John Woo's earlier efforts.
The only actual laugh for me came at the very end:
Tom: I work for an agency called the IMF.
His wife: What does that stand for.
Tom: Uh. Impossible. Mission. Force.
His wife: Shut UP.
Saw Akeelah and the Bee and MI:3 this weekend and was unimpressed with both. I agree with Beej on The Mission of the Impossible.. There were a couple of good set pieces in MI:3, but it was rather dull. Akeelah and the Bee I WANTED to be good, given the theme, subject matter and cast, but the script was predictable and trite.
I finally saw Walk the Line last night. That's a fantastic movie. But, even more relevant, Big Dead Gay Larry is in it!!
Also saw The Notorious Bettie Page. Gretchen Mol is absolutely charming as Bettie. You want to invite her over for a slumber party, watch movies and do each other's hair.

I thought Hasselhoff was the dreamiest guy ever.

Not that I watched it or anything.
There was already a TV movie made of Knight Rider back in, what, 1992?, set in the year 2000. It was fantastic/bad.
