Spike's Bitches 28: For the Safety of Puppies...and Christmas!

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Poor vw. I hope this improves.

Librarian Warlord

vw, I hope that your breathing comes back soon. The tears and frustration can't help, so try to give yourself a break, okay?

I am dressed in my Friday clothes because tomorrow we have a candidate coming for an interview and I'll have to dress like a grown up and go out to lunch and be polite. Blech on the grown up dressing and polite, yay for free lunch!

Our Head of Tech Services just announce he's been diagnoised with prostate cancer. They caught it early, so fingers crossed for him. He's described it as, "The experience should fall somewhere between incredibly annoying and unspeakably icky."

My parents have been cleaning out the house in preparation for their move, and my father is selling off part of his gun collection. I'm finding myself feeling oddly nostalgic over weaponry.

Herding cats for fun

Did you know tomorrow is bathrobe day? I'm betting they don't either!

Hahahahahahaha. So very cool. Now I feel validated as a bathrobe day participant instead of guilty as someone who is embracing my inner sloven.

I'm stressed because I will need to take off another day for this stupid interview, the week after next. I dread trying to finesse that.

No problem: announce at the last minute that you must Go To The Doctor. Look grimly concerned and decline to discuss specifics yet, but you’re entirely sure it is just a test and that you must go and get it over with while the appointment is available. Go for forgiveness after instead of permission beforehand.

Can I list Working The System as a legitimate job skill, or is that one that’s better left off the resume?

maybe it's connected to the Nor'Easters, since there was one in November too.

Hm. Perhaps you should have weather/asthma log. There could be all sorts of windborne particles from Africa or China dropping onto your area. The satellite photo in Discover magazine was really quite impressive.

curling your sholders in

I do that all the time. I’m a huncher. I was surprised to discover just how much downward shoulder movement I can achieve – and how much easier it feels to breathe when I don’t have my shoulders around my ears. Started program of shoulder rolls to go with the hula wriggles, neck rolls and knee bends I do in an effort to be limber.

I can't imagine a cat mellow enough to be a fashion accessory in a crowded place. I wonder if they're trained for it from kittenhood or what.

I can’t either. Not a one of my cats would ever have put up with such a thing. In my experience, cats don’t travel well at all. However, during the mass Golden Gate Bridge Birthday party with a million people attending, I saw with my own eyes a guy in a red sweatshirt riding his bike up the hill as his big fluffy black cat clung to his back, looking nervously over its shoulder. I could hardly believe it. No leash or anything. I always hoped that cat didn’t freak right out and leap for safety and get lost.

vw, I hope your day gets better.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

{{sj}} and {{vw}} Vibing many fewer hospital/doctor visits in your futures!

I actually get to play at home a little today. The bosses closed the factory down and sent us all home to play in the snow. I counted six cars and one semi in the ditch on the way home. I, however, made it save and sound despite the fact I was very afraid I would get stuck in some of the deeper snow on the side streets. As it was, I did a graceful sideways slide into a parking space in the lot outside my condo. And, voila, I'm home! Perhaps I'll go out later and make a snow angel.

Also, I'd like to thank everyone who vibed/said a prayer for my friend Tim's brother. He passed away this morning surrounded by his family with his favorite music playing to help ease him into his new world. Tim thanks everyone for their kind thoughts.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So, they're not going to hire my Minion to replace my Good!Coworker, even though Minion has been here, doing the job for four months. LA!Boss overrode my New!Boss who wanted to hire my Minion.

Is that clear as mud?

Feh. LA!Boss is why my previous Good!Boss left, and now I think New!Boss is thinking maybe that's a damn good idea too, since she can't even hire her own staff in her own freakin' office.

I am sorry for my Minion who was getting mentally adjusted to the notion of being financially stable.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Not a one of my cats would ever have put up with such a thing. In my experience, cats don’t travel well at all.

Harvey has issues with motion sickness, but otherwise he would be of the right temperment to go places with us. While on the road from Arizona to Minnesota this summer, during rest stops we would take the cats out of the minivan on leashes and let them walk around in the grass. Harvey was always much more interested in exploring where he was. The night we stayed over in a motel, in the small hours of the morning, he woke me up so I could take him for a nice long walk outside.

At the Renaissance Festival, pets on short leashes (who remembered to bring their rabes certificates) were welcome. I thought it was a shame that Harvey could not enjoy such a long drive, as I believe he would have thoroughly enjoyed all the interesting sights and sounds. And turkey legs.

ETA: more ~ma for vw. Really wish I could make the stupid asthma go away.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

OMG I just dowloaded a version of Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" that is just the vocal track...

Hopefully not the one we heard on ANGEL.

Lots and lots of general health-ma to all that needs it.
