Spike's Bitches 28: For the Safety of Puppies...and Christmas!

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

What is even happening?

Tuesday night score: A couple of cute flirtations, and much love from my new gay boyfriend. Still up: the puppy-kicking speech to a boy (he's very sweet & nice, but he's obviously looking for a connection, whereas I am... well, not).

Oh. No. Puppy-kicking speech hard. Flirting pretty.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Aaaaaaaargh! They're confiscating my computer!!!

kicks world

'parently there aren't enough computers around, and my former-fellow-sub, who's now been moved into teaching Pre-K, needs one of her own. Which is fair enough. She's presently using this one, coming into the sub room to visit with the 3 of us. So is the other former-fellow-sub who's been moved into teaching Math. There are 5 of us using this computer. But, yes, she needs one in her classroom, sure. But - but this means that we lose our computer!

blows nose

I want to make muffins. But I want them to be easy and healthy and maybe involve porridge oats and pumpkin. I've knocked together several possible recipes from looking at recipes online and chopping and changing a bit...apparently you can take a cake mix and add a can of diet drink instead of egg/fat/milk. Which sounds tempting, even though I'm not a big fan of cake mix as a concept. I thought you could probably do the same thing with a can of pumpkin, or with some fat free yogurt. Maybe.

We're in the middle of a dust storm right now. Everything inside and outside the school is coated in red dust. Including us.

Fay, I'm so sorry about the computer confiscation. That's just mean.

I have heard of people substituting apple sauce for fat in baked goods. I don't know if that appeals to you at all.

Our wings are not tired.

I had a Cashmere dream this morning. Very boring content. We were driving around doing errands. Drug store, grocery, donut shop, post office, with the kids. I got to stay in the car with the kids while she popped into the stores. The frustrating part was that Cashmere had decided to fix her hair in a 50's overteased with flip style that was wrong, very very wrong. She was in such good humor getting all her running around done that I didn't have the heart to tell her that the hair was a mistake. But I knew I had to find a way. I woke before I solved the problem.

Oh No! Fay without a computer would be bad.

I really just feel like going back to bed. Someone convince me to get my ass off the couch, take a shower and get off to classes.

For muffins that should work pretty well - they tend to come out a bit denser and chewier than baked goods make with fats.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Apparently, there were electric sheep in Brokeback Mountain.

Hi Fay! Dust storm: bad. Losing computer: bad. Your presence: very good.

This morning has no coffee, a hundred pages of reading do to, and bitchy people using my dishes after they've been washed. I'd like a repeat please.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Yeah, I've made muffins with the oil replaced with applesauce. Worked pretty well, except you have to make sure to really oil the pan. I remember also trying replacing the oil with prune puree in some sort of baked good. (When I was about 13, my mother was on the Ornish diet for awhile -- pretty much no fats at all -- and we kept experimenting with various ways to make recipes fat-free. The applesauce muffins are the only baked goods that I remember actually liking. I think the prune purree was in some sort of gingerbready thing, and that turned out alright, but not great.)

I've done that in brownies, and it wasn't bad. But it was a long time ago, and applesauce is just so much easier.
