One of the profs is on sabatical this semester and is only checking his e-mail every couple of weeks. The other usually gets back right away, so I'm surprised. vw, when I was waiting for my academic references, I had to call and visit one of them about six times. Eventually the secretary where I was applying just phoned him for a verbal reference. Lesson: the secretary where you're applying has to deal with academics and their whimsical approach to paperwork too.

Actually, I'll go further than that: IME, a good department secretary is the only person on earth who can manage a certain breed of academic, and is thus a certifiable genius.
