Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

No egg cups, but the way my family massacred soft-boiled eggs was to whack off the top third of the narrow end and then scoop out both parts into a bowl. Worked for us.

-t, good for the job! And the DH liking his work environment. Probably because he has the prettiest office decoration around.

Well, BART would cost $18.60 round trip for the three of us, while driving we can take the carpool lane, we are doing a reverse commute and the Civic Center parking lot is close to our destination. Short of finding on street parking, the Civic Center lot is darned inexpensive - $2.00 per hour.

Wow. This is amazing. I would have sworn that public transport would have been cheaper. Of course, when you factor in the aggravation...

By the way, I haven't mentioned congrats and good luck with the C thing! It sounds like she's a great girl, and lucky to have you.

Also, I thought my best wishes for Beth and Matt and family, but realize that I never actually typed them out. Much punctuation to all of you.

I'm getting the pig!

I am Brenda when it comes to soft-boiled eggs. Blech.

No more cramps, and my neck feels like it's 3 inches longer.

I highlighted this part but really, the majority of your post sounded like heaven, Robin. Good for you.

Wow. This is amazing. I would have sworn that public transport would have been cheaper.

This. libkitty nailed what I was going to say, MG. Huh.

I will not put on my ranty pants about the cost of public transportation in the Bay Area. I will not put on my ranty pants about the cost of public transportation in the Bay Area. I will not put on my ranty pants about the cost of public transporation in the Bay Area.

I know it's a lot, but I thought driving would be too.

The problem with soft-boiled eggs is that often the white doesn't get done enough, and then it is teh gross. On those rare occasions when the white gets cooked but the yolk doesn't, then it's just wonderful. But that almost never happens.

And yeah! Mail! Thanks in advance Trudy!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I might not have mentioned, Nicole, I can't remember. he's still working for the same company in New Orleans, but from here, and flying down once a month for meetings and suchlike. It seems to be working out okay, so far. He has to come all teh way out to the kitchen for breakfast and then all the way back down the hall to go to work. Sometimes the cats get in the way, but not enough to make him late, yet.

I actually have egg cups. I don't eat eggs at all, and this soft boiling thing is a complete mystery to me. That bit in Gulliver's Travels about which end of the egg to whack off is making a little more sense, now.

The carpool lane rocks, MG. Way to research the best option ahead of time, that's a surprising result.

t puts one leg in ranty pants

One of my peeves is the way the people out here bitch and moan over the $3 Bay Bridge toll. I think they should jack the price of the bridge up, esp. during commuter hours and use some of that cash to subsidize BART and other forms of public transportation so it is cheap and people will be encouraged to use it. There's a separation between the two, however, that cannot be breached. Bridge tolls may only be used to repair the bridge, blah, blah, blah. And BART fares just went up the 1st of the year.

All is well that ends in pizza.

The problem with soft-boiled eggs is that often the white doesn't get done enough, and then it is teh gross.

This is when a microwave comes in handy, to finish off the white. Sadly the position of the yolk tends to mean it's a goner, too. But then possible salmonella is averted, so...

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

We always had egg cups, and those little silver thingies to cut the top off. All of which would be very nice if soft boiled eggs weren't completely nast. Ick ick ick.

Proof that you are half-Canadian. Have the egg cups, hate the eggs.

That bit in Gulliver's Travels about which end of the egg to whack off is making a little more sense, now.

I know the man was lonely, but molesting innocent eggs seems well beyond the pale.
