You were very nearly devoured by a giant demon snake. The words 'let that be a lesson' are a tad redundant at this juncture.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I like the having a ball part, juliana. And the taking a nap part.

Everything else is swell, Nicole. The house is wonderful, it feels like home, though there are a lot of boxes still to unpack. DH is great and enjoying the working from home thing. I'm a little bit off, but I feel like all I do is complain so I'm not going to right now.

I took the bold step of unsubscribing from a bunch of closed threads today, so I'm thinking I'll be a more active poster...

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

If you hold it steady with the big end down, ideally but not necessarily in an egg cup, you can whack it near the top with the side of a spoon and basically slice the top off. Then you can eat it out of the top. That's what we did when I was a kid in England. Or, you can break it like you would a raw egg, and scrape out the innards, which isn't nearly as much fun.

Is that what egg cups are for? Are those common?

They were common in Europe, at least in the places I went, in the 70s. I've seen them around in the US, in homes and stores, but I haven't seen them used much. I don't have any, but if I'm in the mood for soft boiled, I usually default to poached.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I finally cashed in my birthday gift certificate and had my massage today! I started with a sauna with eucalyptus oil. Very nice. Then a 45-minute deep tissue massage. Deep tissue, as in This Ain't No Pleasure Cruise. There was some pain involved at points during the massage, but now I feel GREAT. No more cramps, and my neck feels like it's 3 inches longer.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Earlier I mentioned my intention to BART to the city tomorrow late afternoon and DH's push to drive.

Well, BART would cost $18.60 round trip for the three of us, while driving we can take the carpool lane, we are doing a reverse commute and the Civic Center parking lot is close to our destination. Short of finding on street parking, the Civic Center lot is darned inexpensive - $2.00 per hour.

Looks like we may be driving...

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Favorite bland food: pastina in chicken broth cooked to a poridge consistency

t: wooooooooooooooooo hoooooooooooo. tell h I hope the commute isn't killing him

j: you bad-ass

egg cups: I first (and only) used them in England on my post-college trip. Until that point I thought they were some old fashioned thing in books and didnt' exist anymore

Libkitty: check your mail saturdayish

I'm getting the pig!

DH is great and enjoying the working from home thing.

I think I must've previously missed the part where he was going to be working from home but I'm glad he's enjoying it and that things are going well for you both. I can only imagine how comforting it must feel for you both to be in your own home again. All kinds of yay!

so I'm thinking I'll be a more active poster

Muchly looking forward to this.

I'm avoiding the SotU by watching Gilmore Girls. I haven't watched an entire ep in forever and I'm not even sure why since it's still a good show.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

We always had egg cups, and those little silver thingies to cut the top off. All of which would be very nice if soft boiled eggs weren't completely nast. Ick ick ick.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

No egg cups, but the way my family massacred soft-boiled eggs was to whack off the top third of the narrow end and then scoop out both parts into a bowl. Worked for us.

-t, good for the job! And the DH liking his work environment. Probably because he has the prettiest office decoration around.
